I have no problem with the mistake.  I have a problem with Rather still trying to convince the world that hes a news reader instead of an editorial reader...

I stopped trusting CBS a long time ago.

They just once again proved their agenda blinds them to the ethics of professional journalism.

Dan Rather is one of the most arrogant pompous liars on television today.  Anyone who would believe a word he says is in my opinion, an idiot.

I have many time before, and will again, strongly suggest anyone interested in someone like Rather, or network television news read the book "Bias" by Goldbert.  Very enlightening from an insider.

wonder how many people here still think..

1.  CBS can be trusted and does not have a liberal agenda

2.  michell moore is an unbiased and honest documentary maker

3.  CBS has the documents to prove Bush went AWOL

Dan Rather is a Liar.

Seen him doing interviews at the MEPS station in Richmond,VA back in March of 1975. He asked all of the inductees if he could ask them questions and have it filmed for TV.... most, like me said no.  Good thing because he eventually "SPIN'd" it around to make it look like Parents were sending their kids into the Army to get rid of them.

I'd like to met him up front and personal.  Just to thank him for those that did interview and were eventually ousted from the Army.

I think after Jane Fonda dies, his grave is the next I'd pisssss on...

Just my 2 cents worth.

I trust CBS news a lot because they are an established network with a long history.

It's not their fault that the documents were forged. They were working on the story for 5 years and probably didn't have the extra 15 minuts to verify them before the election, so they had to run with what they had.....no big deal really.

The important thing is that the forged documents conveyed the general "story" regarding Bush's gaurd service, and I can live with that. I mean, CBS needed a visual prop to go along with the 15 year old "story".....that's really all it was, no big deal.

So yes, I trust CBS because they tell the truth and reveal the inside stories like they were meant to be told.....from the heart.

The CBS mistake is puny compared to the US intels WMD in Iraq 'misrepresentation'.
By the way, now that we know there arent any WMD's that pose a threat to the US in Iraq, why are we still there?

Lasz, lets hear a 'fair and unbiased' critique of the WMD in Iraq mistake?  Speak for the dead soldiers.

whitehawk... ok.. my take?  the sadman was an agressive dictator who had worked on WMD's in the past including nukes and biological weapons that he used on his own people in an attempt at genocide.

the UN and every major country in the world believed that he was still working on them and or had stockpiles hidden... the UN sanctioned him... he violated the sanctions over and over just like a man with something to hide... every country and the UN believed he had WMDs or was workinhg on them even as we invaded.

fair enough?
