CNN is also doing some good coverage as interesting things happen.  It just took off, heading up to launch height.

Holy crap, that was scary!  He went into an uncontrolled roll near the end of the boost phase, but he managed to recover.  Looks like he made the altitude goal, broke the record set by the X-15!

Pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeew it got me sweating during the climb. It seems he had some severe engine-induced rolling motion up until the engine burnt off...

Watching at it glides back, hands still shakking :)

IIRC they used a beefier engine this time.  Holds more fuel uses more flow yadda yadda yaddaa.

Might be the reason for the rolls.  I think they are goin for ride #2 next week.

They carried far more weight this time (two mock passengers), so that may be a factor as well.

It sure seems it was the exhaust that induced the roll, since it got faster as the aerodinamic forces left way to pure exospheric maneouvering.

its not 'again' its part of the contest.

the White Knight and SpaceshipOne have to do 2 successful flights within a specified time period to win.

And the brit chick covering the webcast NOW is HOT.

On the other hand... why did they name the 2nd stage craft 'SpaceShipOne'?

I mean.. heck they chose a really cool name for the 1st stage plane... why the lame name for the 2nd stage craft?

I need more coffee.. :D
