Saddam 2005: Four more Years?
« on: October 01, 2004, 09:59:16 AM »
Now this is shaping up to be amusing:
Saddam Hussein may be going to run for president in the Iraqi elections, according to his lawyer.

As he's not likely to be tried before January 2005, there's no "convicted criminal" impediment. And as there's a new constitution, he's not restricted by previous time as president.

What will the US do if he wins, I wonder?

This means we could have a war every year.

Saddam wins election before trial.

We go back to "liberate" the Iraqis.

Saddam wins election again before trial.

etc etc.

Maybe he has learned the error of his ways and will support us to get terrorists out of Iraq?

I say let him run, seriously.

Well he did seem to be able to keep those animals under control.  Let him run.  He's learned his lesson.

Keep him on ice, we may need to run him against Hillary in '08. He'd get my vote.

Saddam doesn't need to run for President. As far as he is concerned he still is president.  What is needed is that his cronies do not destabilise the country so much that they take power and put him in charge again.
