Combat in October Time of Aces

 2nd of October 1944,
October was a pivotal month for the air campaign on Guadalcanal. It was a time when the men who had arrived in August were clearly at the end of their endurance, for sickness and fatigue hit them after they had survived Japanese bullets. However, new squadrons and crews were arriving, among them VMF-121, led by Major Leonard K. "Duke" Davis. His executive officer, Captain Joseph J. Foss, would soon make a name for himself. Other veterans of the campaign had not stayed idle. Major Smith of VMF-223 had taken his squadron up on 2 October against a raid by Japanese bombers and fighters. The Zero escorts dove on the climbing Navy and Marine Wildcats, quickly shooting down two fighters from VMF-223. Smith exited a cloud to confront three Zeros. He blasted a fighter into a ball of flame. However, the two remaining Zeros got on his tail and peppered the struggling little blue-gray F6F with cannon and machine gun fire. Listening to a repaired radio from a damaged SBD back at Guadalcanal, the crews of Dennis Byrd's VMSB-232 heard Captain Carl call to his skipper. "John, you've got a Zero on your tail!" "I know, I know," Smith replied, "shoot the SOB if you can!" Then all was silence

The reason Tower range is the same as the Fighter and Bomber warning range is to show the squads on the clipboard (visual aid) how far the warning radius is. It serves no other purpose than that since radar is off.

CM Notes
- Frame C.O.'s will place Task Groups within a 6 sector area. Task Groups must remain in those 6 sectors.
- Jump task groups to positions requested by Frame C.O.'s the last 5 minutes. Each side has 3 Task Groups.
- Destroy 5' guns in Task groups.
- Allow players to man all other ack in Task Groups.
- Set time to 9 am with white puffy clouds
If you are unable to be a Frame C.O. then it is your responsibility to find a replacement within your squad or trade with someone in another squad. Details on how to be a Frame C.O. can be found here.

I believe you mean October 1942.
We were in the Phillipines in October 1944.
Which means that P-38L, F4u and F6F are not valid
oops
I thought I was important until I got Cancer and had to go to a cancer clinic.

When is this this next setup supposed to start?  Isn't this Friday a little short notice for the C.O.'s?  I would hate to have to come up with orders on such short notice if I were C.O.

I just received orders... does this mean that I am CO for this frame? It would be really great if it said somewhere, in black and white, "Dux, you will be the frame CO this frame".

Apologies if it does say this somewhere and I missed it.

This is a really bad week for me, can somebody swap frames with me? Who are the other Axis COs?

Good, second frame is fine for me.  I need a good solid day just to come up with an Idea that I'll change in about 15 minutes anyway.  Then there is the review board, and all the red tape.  I am lucky to get these things out by Wednesday anyway.  Good luck all.

Yes please ask Falcon. I am up to my eyeballs at work.  If Falcon can't let me know asap, I will crank something out as soon as possible.

68KO, if you or Falcon could cover me this week, that would rock... can you arrange that for me?

I'll still do next week no problem... give Daddog a break. (I'm sure next week'll be busy for you too!)
