why the hell do you even bother with vice presidental debates.

al they do for 4 years is basicly twitle their thumbs.  they have no real power so why bother?

 The VP as President of the Senate has a tie breaking vote, in case of ties.
 And if the current President was unable to fulfill his duties, the VP is next in line to be President.

It does matter.

several VPs became Presidents.

 The USA even had one President who was not elected into the office. guess which one.  ;)

 Research find out, do a report, turn it in to one of your classes for extra credit.   < for those still in school.

Congressman from Michigan is an office so you must not mean Ford.

Bush was elected to the office of Governer of Texas and by an electoral college majority to the office of President.

That was better than Thomas Jefferson did, as he was second behind John Adams, 71 to 68 EC votes but no one received a majority so Jefferson was  elected by the House of Representatives.

I guess I can't guess which one. What is the answer?

The VP has as much power as the Prez decides to let him have.

In THIS case I'd say this is probably the most powerful VP we've ever had

Now why on earth would someone lie about meeting someone else, when the records are so clear and so provable?

I suspect the real reason Cheney said those things were because Edwards is so impotent as to never having left an impression on Cheney.



I find it more than a little amusing that the democrats even CARE about lies after 8 years of Clinton.

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman........" , just to name a knee slapper...

Talon.. How much money, time, and resources were used for that lie? Bush/Cheney have had many many lies some costing lifes! Where is the justice??
