Hiya CTers.

I am willing to start and run a low maintainance IJA/IJN squad for the CT.  There would be no website and squad communications would be through email.  The squad's focus would be to have fun and provide a cohesive Japanese force during PT and CBI CT setups.

With the coming Ki-84 we're well suited to opposing the USN, USMC and USAAF in later setups, only high altitude attacks and the F4U-4 really pose problems.

What I would be looking for is enough interest to justify forming a squad.  Enough interest to actually accomplish stuff in the CT, and to offer enough resistance to slow or stop the USN and USMC squads on their squad nights.  Enough to the point that they could tell the difference between when we were there opposing them and when we were not.

I would be taking the CO position and looking for an XO to run squad nights when I cannot make it.  I am in California, but am willing to work with other people who are interested in order to set up a squad night that works for us all.

That's the short of it.  Give me replies and lets see if there is enough interest to do this.

Thanks.

I could be interested in something like that. Definitely a need for another axis squad in the CT.

When's the last time you saw a USN or USMC squad to oppose? Maybe your squad will light a fire under some of our absent blue plane types. Good luck with your squad Karnak, I think the Ki-84 will help it be succesful. ( watch out for Bear though, ive heard stories:D )

Slash27,

On your first point I have no idea.  I've not really been in the CT, or AH for that matter, much in the last year.  All I had to go on was the situation as it was when I was here and then the Allied squads were both larger and more numerous.

On the second point, I think the P-51D will be harder to deal with than the P-38L.  The Ki-84 is likely to be faster than the P-38L and P-47D-40 down lower and maybe even up to mid altitudes.  At high altitude all the US aircraft will continue to be dominant as I said.

The P-51D is the closest to the F4U-4, but it doesn't climb as well and isn't quite as fast.  It is also a little more fragile.  The F4U-4 is a true monster.

I'd probably be interested in an informal setup, since I always fly IJN anyway in PTOs.

However, since I prefer the A6M when available, regardless of the opposition, I'd be less interested in a squad that made the Ki-84 their primary ride.

Splash1,

I wouldn't worry about that.  I'd not make any aircraft the squad ride.  What we flew would depend on the circumstances.

Would enlisted squad members get the usual contempt, beatings and otherwise harsh treatment from the officers?

Nah.  It would be a casual IJA/IJN squad.  Only for formal IJA/IJN squads should the historical Japanese disipline system be instituted.;)

I think he likes that sort of stuff.  I would have said,  "Why yes Grun we will beat you early and often"  Then he would likely join.  :D

I wasn't as absent as much as I was flying IJ planes to make up for numbers. Well ... now I'm kinda abset with the Rangoon thing.

Rangoon will rock. But so will the new CT pac.
