Need a little help on this one...
I am currently using Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. (for those who have one...they work better as door stops)

What should I buy?
Why?

What is your budget?

If you want a good setup that will last I suggest CHPro.  But it is expensive if you want everything, stick, throttle, and pedals.

If you just want a pretty good setup try Saitek, X45 or the newer rig their putting out.  You can pick up a used refurbished X45 for about $45.00 U.S.   Some that fly here buy their Saitek from Best Buy or Comp USA and get the extended warrenty because the Saitek's tend to go south on the view hat fairly quick.  They get a new stick for real cheap that way every 6 to 12 months or so and they buy the warrenty again each time.

What operating system are you running?  If it's XP then you probably will have to go with a USB setup.  However CHPro did have a sale on their analog stuff for like $20.00 for the F16 flightstick.  Analog is still doable but you have to have a way of programming and calibrating your stick in an older operating system and that can be a hassle some don't care for.

I'm running a CHPro F16 Fighterstick and rudder pedals (analog), and a CHPro USB Throttle.  You're not supposed to be able to mix analog and USB but AH allows me to program them as seperate controllers and use em together.  Workin great so far :)

Hope this helps :D

Hey, I also have a Logitech stick (Wingman Force 3D). I have it since March and about 2 months ago started to go crazy. I have a lot of problems with rudder control no matter how I try to calibrate it. What sticks do you recomend for under $50.00?

Alex.

Under $50...my suggestion is the Saitek Cyborg EVO at $39 at Best Buy or Comp USA. Go ahead and pay the $9 for the 2 year replacement plan at Best Buy that way if a button starts sticking or you wear it (which will happen eventually) you can just take it back and swap it for a new 1

I started with a Logitech, the a Thrustmaster AfterBurner I,  then a Suncom (out of business), then a Microsoft, then a Saitek X45, and finally went with CHProducts.

The Logitech pots went bad and logitech jerked me around until the warrenty went out, then refused to replace it.  I will not purchase any logitech stuff now if I can help it.  Got a thing with ViewSonic about that as well.  They claimed they fixed the monitor but it returned to me in exactly the same condition as when I sent it and then they said sorry out of warrenty.

The Thrustmaster pots went south after about 6 months.  The Suncom went a little faster.  The microsoft handle got super lose and the axis got very sloppy plus the handle shape or something really aggravated my carpel tunnel.  The Saitek X45 view hat went south within 6 months, but Saitek replaced the entire rig free minus shipping to them.

So far the CH stuff has held up pretty well. The throttle needed a view hat replacement after a year of use, and CH replaced it.

Of the equipement I've used wish I had bought the CHProducts Stick, Throttle and Pedals set they were selling for $99.00 a few years ago at a Computer Store.  They were the set used for display but they were in excellent shape and the store was going to stop carrying em.  Didn't know they were normally about $100 per unit even then :(

If you can afford it I recommend the CHProducts stuff for durability and warrenty.  Hmm when I think about it not sure the other stuff is actually is cheaper in the long run ???

What do you guys say about the Thrustmasters and the Saitek Cyborg Evo Force? The AH guys seem to trust the Thrustmasters since the provide presets for them (?).

Like somebody up there said, the X45 rocks, just get the insurance plan...mine just broke. I dunno if it's just Best Buy that does that...?

My new X45 started showing some bad friction in the cup near the spring, causing some bad moans and groans as well as sticking.

Beware.

I plan on getting CH next time around.

Friction is going to happen if you don't spray silicone onto the rubber/cone occasionaly
