C47 Takeoff Rudder Bug
« on: October 10, 2004, 05:57:10 PM »
Hi,

The C47 rudder requires ~ a 1/2 hz oscillation in order to keep the plane on the runway during takeoff.  This can be seen in autotakeoff and experienced with no autotakeoff.  The F4U is easier to take off with than the C47. AH1 did not have this rudder action present.   I believe this is a bug.

Regards,

Malta

Melta,
I do not use autotakeoff and the C47 does have a larger tendency to ground loop in AH2.  However, the tail wheel will now lock if you pull the stick at least a quarter of the way back, and will stop the oscillation.  I believe all tail draggers in AH2 have this tail wheel lock feature.
