HL2 packages ready at Steam
« on: October 11, 2004, 06:33:57 PM »
Oh boy, oh boy...

Halflife is back. Good thing I preloaded the first 4 packages already. Gonna get package No5 tonight.

We're only days from release now! That plus Pacific Fighters in about 2 weeks - plus AH update... so many games so little time!

For all who do not have a clue what I am brabeling about: http://www.steampowered.com

I got the Silver (I'd have gotten the one with the hat if I had the money).

Man, CS: Source may be buggy, but it's way more fun than the original could ever have hoped to be. I'm still waiting to play regular HL2 :D .

Pacific Fighters should be good, but the only game I'm really counting the day's till is Silent Hunter III.

Kirin, how are you sure it's only days away?  I've also been preloading... cant wait!

By the way, the Bronze Silver Gold packages are um... cheap :)  Good marketing strategy though.... Valve sure is going to milk this... bastards delayed it long enough.

Well it's rather VU than Valve who is causing the delays...

I made the assumption that we are close to release since this is the first preload after Valve send its RC to VU. So any changes/updates are probably based on the quality assesment of the publisher which means the current version is going to be the final one. That plus CS:S is done and the packages are ready to order.

United: Ah well, I think I gonna have a peek into DoD:S myself :) Always found it one of the best WW2 mods out there just technically soooooo outdated.

What I really wonder about is HL:S.

SH III will be great - but hasn't it been postponed till 2005?

Yes it has been postponed till 2005, as the developers follow the subsim.com forums and everyone was asking them to include  good dynamic campaigns. So they decided not to release for xmas so they can include a dynamic campaign.

Fully marks to them I say, for listening and not rushing it out. Will be well worth the wait, unlike some sims.

Err... fd ski, HL2 silver includes DoD:S for 59.95 USD - unless you want the hat and poster no need to go for the gold edition. CS:S is "free" anyway since you get it with the most basic HL2 edition also. I think the silver edition is great value - getting several stand-alone games for a little more than a new retail - plus HL2 of course!

My question..

why do the CS boys get to pay less ( bronze ).

and the DOD fans like myself are forced to pay more (silver)?

because all the CS players are spotty 14 year olds with no money?
