Time to pick on a Euopean Country
« on: October 13, 2004, 03:42:57 PM »
Time for American's to pick on a European country maybe? With all this talk from the non-Americans on this board maybe Americans should start nit-picking every little thing the Europeans do. Every mistake America has made since 1776 seems to be a logical attack for some Europeans.

Maybe we should start with all the atrocities the Vikings pulled in Europe, killing Monks, Nuns, and robbing and murdering all kinds of innocent people.

Maybe we should hold every German alive today accountablefor the attrocities committed by the Nazi gov't.

Maybe we should hold the French and Norwegians accountable for those who Collaborated with the Nazis.

Maybe we should hold the French accountable for Napolean's wars.

Maybe we should hold the British accountable for their attempts at world domination via colonialism.

Maybe we should hold the Spanish accountable today for the Inquisition.

Every country has dirty laundry. Maybe, just maybe......instead of nitpicking on each others gov'ts we should try to look for the good things in this world.

Sadly, I doubt that will ever happen, at least not on THIS board.

odd, the board is primarily stocked with american fish. i doubt that the few foreingers on this board (off the top of my head we have: straffo pongo thrawn ghsholz boroda and beet1e) could account for all the noise.

Please what ? blame today a german who was non existent
in the second world war ?!

The people who fought against Hitler in ww2 no matter what country deserve honour, like the US Soldiers that time.
But this have nothing to do with the Soldiers today, complete different generation, different people.
Doing the right thing yesterday dont mean automaticaly doing the right thing today.

No need to for nit-picking every mistake a nation done in the past,
its over nobody can change it,
Judge TODAYS people over things they do/achieve TODAY.

It always amaze me this division of the world in  these two groups.....ohh sure it is a nice way to semplify things, but I find it a little distorted

And, of course, picking on European countries (like any other country) the way you suggest would  not make this BBS  a better place

Elfie,

Aww.. you could've come up with some better things than at the newest over half a century old stuff, while the foreigners aka non-americans are picking on the present issues.

Plus theres alot of picking all the time on euros, even if it might not seem like so to you.
Of course you're not on the receiving end of the euro picking so what would ya know about it, you're only thinking about the picking on americans.

French bashing has been quite popular.. although after the dust of Iraq war settled down and no WMD was found or anything else, the french bashing lightened some.
Pre-Iraq war and and during it's "major operations" phase, the euro picking/bashing was at best hilarious - this picking on americans pales in comparison.
