Someone gives their life for this country and when a close friend wants to honor that person he is told he cant. In case you have not heard Jake Plummer is being required by the NFL to remove the small sticker on his helmet with the #40 on it, Jake wears the sticker in honor of Pat Tillman a teammate and friend. On opening day all players and teams wore the sticker but only the cardinals are wearing it all season long, the rest of the teams and players removed it. I just cant believe they are making him do this, what has this world come too where you cant wear a freaking sticker to honor your friend.

No one said he can't, his employer simply said he can't do it at work.

If I wanted to honor Tillman and wore a #40 football jersey at work, I would most likely get called into my bosses office for not meeting dress code too.  Same thing.

Its really not the same thing, its not like he wants to wear his jersey number, just a small sticker on his helmet. I am sure you could get away with that at work and no one would say anything about a dress code. I can see that point of argument and I do understand that but I still think it shows how sad and depressing the world can be when in a game of fun and sport you cant pay a little tribute to someone.

As for your comment Creamo about it never ending, why should it have too, if someone who plays in a pro sport wants to honor someone they loved and it doesnt effect the game why cant they. It is not even close to the same as NASCAR, its not about profit its about tribute.

Pat Tillman would approve of the NFL's decision.  It's not right to make exceptions that would bend the rules, and I doubt Tillman would want anything like that.  He served the USA and paid the ultimate price, and remembrance of him is in the heart and not expressed in wearing a sticker.  It's against the rules!!!  And they're good rules put in place by people who know what they're doing.

The article said the first USO in Afganistan would be done in Tillman's name, and that is what he should be remembered for.

Stupid ruling by the NFL. They should ammend it to allow former teammates to honor Tillman. Especially one like Plummer, who was a team leader. How many of the Cardinals were never teammates of Tillman but wear the patch? I'm sure one of them would offer his patch for Jake.

If they let Plummer personalize his helmet, they'll have to let everyone. It's easier to say no than have a meeting everytime someone comes up with a worthy exception to the rule.

Seeing how Tillman went about the whole thing as quietly as he did, I doubt even he would approve of that. But it's not his choice...

One of the very few people who lived their life leaving something bigger than himself behind.

My take is that he would be embarrassed by the gesture. But it's out of his hands now. He embodied the spirit of it.

Nobody here is gonna live up to it, but damn if ya can't at least pay tribute.

Holy Cow Nash. A post of yours I agree with. I'm not sure he left somnething behind that was bigger than he was. He was a BIG man, not in stature but in actions.

A compromise:

"Plummer gave up his decal and, in exchange, the Broncos will put up a big No. 40 logo near the play clock on the north end of the stadium. The team will also run ads on the scoreboard during games to promote the Tillman Foundation.

The NFL agreed not to fine Plummer, and will allow him to tape public-service announcements honoring Tillman that will be played in stadiums nationwide on the weekend after Veteran's Day. It will also contribute $250,000 to a USO center in Afghanistan to be named after Tillman.

"I wish I could still wear it," Plummer said, "but it doesn't stop me from honoring and remembering Pat Tillman as a dear friend and a close teammate and a guy that I think everyone should look up to as a hero.""

Win-win.
