Problem Solved.

I realized that the skin is reduced to 1024x1024 in the game, so it looks no different than when I had it at 2048x2048.

silly question, but have you zipped them? always makes bmp's much smaller.

Yes.  Zipped it is 2.83MB, too much for onpoi.net/ah and barely too big for my space.
