The Historic 190s Project
« on: October 17, 2004, 10:01:08 PM »
The Historic 190s Project kicked off some weeks ago.

The purpose of this project is to provide all the selections of 190s for historic setups from 1943 to 1945, so the range of skins selectable in AH2 (at least, until we get a new 190 3D model...) is not biased for the planes of a few aces or those that look particularly nice. It would be quite awkward to have 15 skins(+ 1 default) for a certain plane, and find out that none of them fit into a certain timeline when it is required in scenarios or events.

Thus, I have selected the following 25 skins to work on for all 190 variants:

7 skins for the Fw190A-5

*OB May,1943
 I./JG54 (Russia)
 III./JG51(Russia)
 SG2 (Mediterranean)
 III./JG2 (France)
 II./JG26 (France)
 SKG10 (France)
 III./JG11 (France) (Fw190A-6)

6 skins for the Fw190A-8

*OB May,1944
IV./JG3 (sturmgruppe) (Germany)
I./JG11 (Germany)
III./JG2 (France)
II./JG54 (Russia)

*OB January,1945
II./JG4 (sturmgruppe) (Germany)
II./JG300 (sturmgruppe) (Germany)

5 skins for the Fw190D-9

*OB Jauary,1945)
Stab/JG26 (Germany)
III./JG54 (Germany)

*OB March,1945
II./JG6 (Germany)

*OB April,1945
III./JG11 (Germany)
II./JG301 (Germany)

5 skins for the Fw190F-8

*OB January,1945
II./SG1 (Poland)
I./SG77 (Poland)
I./SG2 (Austro-Hungary)
III./SG4 (Germany)

OB April,1945
III./SG3 (Courland)

2 skins for the Ta152H-1

*OB April,1945
Stab/JG301 (Germany)
III./JG301 (Germany)

Some of them have been already finished and implemented in AH2. Its a long way to go, but I'll try to keep the thread updated everytime I've finally finished a plane.

German skins are always done like they've just came out of the paint booth.  With only color plates and restored static displays to work with in color as a reference, it's the way their represented. Tain't so.

Problem I've encountered is the reflective property of the skins. They don't lend themselves to weathering. If the AH 190 skin was non reflective you could make it ugly :D

Actually, most Luftwaffe planes were kept in a well maintained, fairly clean condition, with the exception of 1945, and there are thousands of photos to support this.  Not that a heavily weather plane wouldn't look cool nonetheless...

I have a great scheme for an SG2 190F8, its natural metal undersides and fuselage, with RLM74/75 wings and upper fuselage.  I'll see if I can post a photo of my model of it later this week, or email me and I'll be glad to email it direct to anyone interested in doing this cool scheme!

Selector, nice skin! Sorry I checked on this so late. I'm assuming that's a Fw190A-8, and you'll submit it... which will cut down my work by one plane :D Ahh relief.

Bazi, it'd be good if you can post a pic here in the forums. While I'm greatly interested in the bare-metal scheme for the F-8, it is practically impossible to a baremetal effect done for the 190s - the 190 texture wrapping has some serious defects.

TK, scan the templates section at AH-skins.com. The templates for the Fw190A-5 and A-8 are identical. The JG2('44) Fw190A-8 I've done used the same templates(but a bit better weathering techniques I've learned up to date).
