What makes a person so mad at someone while playing a game that they want to "get in the ring with someone and knock the other person out..."?

Just curious. I've gotten many players mad at me before but never have threatened me with physical violence. Was almost funny in a way. How someone could get this upset.

To add to it I was called a "drug adict and a lousy drunk..."

Comon its a game dudes.

And it was all over a few goon kills on a squad mission.

Silly...

Oh yeah btw... This isnt flame bait or whatever HT... Just askin. :)

I have not played in many months now, I have been simming for about 10 years now and as of late have had some health issues that have taken me away from this. I did find tho that the last 2 years or so I almost never look at the buffer. It works for me.

Honestly? I can fly well enough so that my pride is not hurt so much when I fight you or any other muppet morph. I think your squad is the main reason behind alot of aggression towards you. You guys undoubtedly have alot of skill..un fortunately you have alot of trashtalkers whose idea of fun is to belittle other players that arent as skilled as yourselves. You know I have no problem talking smack with you on ch. 200. Hell I enjoy it....but I can certainly see where the aggression would come from...(well u asked). By the way I think I was the only goon  that you didnt get on that capture last night....neener neener!

Excellent answer.

I honestly believe that the Muppets are among the best.  I love it when I get a kill on one...which isn't often.

It's the lack of grace or dignity with which they treat others who aren't as good that hurts them.

This is a game.  You guys are awesome at it.      There are things you are not so good in.   Is this compensation?   Is this really the only place you guys excel so you need the thrill of belittling?

Think how much more respect you'd get for graciousness......

Exactly!

The AoM are without doubt one of the top fighter gangs on AH.

the only thing, as you both stated, is the lack of grace in defeat, or even victory.

personally have shot down a few muppets in my time (13 months or so) and everytime, without exception, i was told it wus just

'dumb luck'

'gangbaging dweebishness'

'Dweeb plane uber fluke'

etc,etc,etc!

AoM, you are great pilots of AH, but some may certainly need a few lessons in social politics. IMHO.

this is not a dig at you guys, merely a view point to answer your thread morpheus.

i have tried to be friendly to you and other muppets, but it is always sneered at.

But, maybe some guys get off on that discontent amoung thier Foes.

Personally i believe pre-1950s Aerial Combat to be a 'Gentleman's Game' not a 21st century egotistical slagging match.

anyone who outwits me and kills me, no matter what the circumstances, i will salute and respect.

maybe i am missing something......

Good manners cost you nothing, and can gain you the world.

to all my noble foes of the sky, including the mighty muppets.

hehe Ok.

Btw Jaxxo I was 600 off your 6 i think it was you, out of gas and spraying every last bullet I had at you as you swiftly drifted away in your good! lol wtg ya dweeb!

Didnt really get to the point I was looking for but still good none the less. Muppets to me are my best friends in the game.
Also no one is perfect either. I think some need to remember that. (not speaking to the ones who have posted here thus far.)

I was just curious as to what would cause someone to get so angry over a game that they would threaten another person with physical violence. Seems silly if you ask me. But thats just me. There's a difference between calling someone a "lame lucky arse dweeb" and saying your going to smash their skull or they are going to find where you live and come kick your arse. :)

Again, IMO.

Wasn't too long ago that Morph and Pawz were trolling an area I happened to be in. Could tell they were good pilots just by the way they maintained energy and dogged pursuit, but had no real clue who they were since I didn't know AoM at that time has switched sides.

Anyway, after a few timid approaches of me trying to get an upper hand on a pair of lower planes, I decided it was best to egress out of there. Afterall, at that time it was still 1 on 2 and I'm not dumb. I egressed enough to get some energy and come back at them, and at that time more friendlies showed up.

I made a pass or 2 at Morph and then the inevitable happened. The dreaded merge. I try not to shoot a HO, but next thing I know I am sitting in the tower with a kill message on me. So, I private a message to Morph and say I can't stand HO's.

His response, basically, was he couldn't stand runners. Well... we talked it out a bit, and we both came to an understanding that **it happens. Told Morph I was coming back to give him a 30mm pill to swallow.

Anyway, point to a long story. I don't think all of the AoM are rude crude socially unacceptable punks. I think, being the decent pilots that they are, usually hold themselves to higher standards, have bad days, and most unfortunately lash out. I curse at my monitor, others type it out.

It's a game, and games are supposed to be competitive. Of course I am going to get upset sometimes. Last night, I gave Tagteam 2 easy kills because my dorky arse blacked out trying to pull to hard a move. It's because Tag did a good job that I screwed up, so I laughed it off and threw him a salute all the while my neighbors probably thought an insane person lived next door cursing his bellybutton off.

AoM are good, but...

Fester and ManeTMP are hilarious if you kill them though.  I killed fester while he was flying around on deck like a noob in p38 (his stick was busted) and i got all kinds of abuse for my troubles...

Still, i would be same if my MS stick got broken so i sympathise.
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

Players that insult and mock and can back it up are usually the players that will take the newbies to the DA and help em out.
AoM has a lotta talent and share.
It's not an excuse to be nasty but at least they can be reasoned with.

It's the players who taunt the newbies and aren't much better that are ridiculous.
How many times have we seen the " get back here and fight " taunt tossed out by guys who think they are all there is in AH and have no problem sharing it with folks who could care less and most times just shake thier head and laf at the Jkas.

Well I'm sure I am one of the biggest guys in this arena. I bet 10 times someone has said i'm going to kick your arse. Last one told me if I come to con I would be a deadman lol. Like my grandfather always said Never worry about guy telling you he will get you watch out for quiet ones.

Best example of this in real life was egypt Having a paraded celbrating thier upcoming war with israel the next day. What did israelis do they hit the hungover tired party guys before they woke up next day, And War was over right then except for clean up.

Never in my life has a guy who has told me he was going to kick my arse ever done same.

o and if your wondering i'm 6'4" 384 lbs so I think i can safely say one of the biggest in game ( not saying toughest).
