Fool me once, erhm... can't get fooled again...I love it.

By RON FOURNIER, AP Political Writer :
===================
Six so-called "SWAT teams" of lawyers and political operatives will be situated around the country with fueled-up jets awaiting Kerry's orders to speed to a battleground state. The teams have been told to be ready to fly on the evening of the election to begin mounting legal and political fights. Every battleground state will have a SWAT team within an hour of its borders.

The Kerry campaign has recount office space in every battleground state, with plans so detailed they include the number of staplers and coffee machines needed to mount legal challenges.

"Right now, we have 10,000 lawyers out in the battleground states on Election Day, and that number is growing by the day," said Michael Whouley, a Kerry confidant who is running election operations at the Democratic National Committee.

While the lawyers litigate, political operatives will try to shape public perception. Their goal would be to persuade voters that Kerry has the best claim to the presidency and that Republicans are trying to steal it.

Democrats are already laying the public relations groundwork by pointing to every possible voting irregularity before the Nov. 2 election and accusing Republicans of wrongdoing.

On Election Day, Whouley will head the so-called "boiler room," probably in Washington, that tracks vote counts and ensures Kerry doesn't concede too soon. Whouley was the aide who, after noticing Florida was too close to call in 2000, called Gore's team in Tennessee and told them to put the brakes on the concession speech.

Preparing to lose is a good idea, preparing to cause legal havoc as some type of screwing the system and throwing a fit is just assnine.

Looks like they are expecting to lose and then be poor losers.

Too bad that Kerry and the demos don't have the class Nixon had in 1960. Yeah that's right, "Nixon" and "class" in the same sentence.

At least in that election Nixon had the class to put the country first, even if he thought he was wronged.

here is some background

As there are just as many Demos running local precincts as Repubs, I think that 'stealing' the election is unlikely.

For those of you who think that 2000 was stolen, you're wrong.  Bush won the electoral vote.

>[whine]"But Gore won the popular vote"[/whine]

The Yankees scored more runs than the Red Sox in the last 7 games. Red Sox are going to the WS. Gonna complain about that too?

Complain about that? Hell no....

All that needs to happen now is for the Packers to win on Halloween and y'all might as well not even bother holding an election.

Butt-shieds? How many tulips does Kerry have, anyway?

I bet if he could only get all 10,000 to actually vote for him, he'd have a better chance of winning. Sadly, unless these guys are all first year associates, or government-employed robots, they're all probably making too much to ever vote for a democrat.

Either way I think it's a waste of money. Chances are the election isn't going to be so razor close as to justify legal intervention, much less legal intervention that could cost hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars.

I praise Kerry's initiative though. He's willing to throw so much money into a precautionary step just in case the election is close. Imagine how efficiently he'll run the country if he actually gets his 10,000 anuses into the oval office.

Guess I better be more obvious as to the parallel.

By the rules of the games as set before the contests, even though they were both outscored, both GWBush and the Red Sox won their respective contests.

No need. I got it.

I think, as Neubob just said; "Chances are the election isn't going to be so razor close as to justify legal intervention..."

Ya just never know nowadays though. It's incredible. Are November elections and December decisions the new normal?
