I bought it but couldn't get "into it".

RTW looks cool though, I may re-try.

if you played "shogun" you will find the game very simple.
if not, its a steep learning curve if you get in too it

Port income always shows 0, iirc. You need to build the trading post/merchant  as well as a port. You also need lines of ships to friendly/neutral territory, you can't trade with factions you are at war with.

Right click the mkerchant, it will tell you the income it's earning. If it's in the hundreds, it's trading with other regions.

You can also click the economy screen (pile of coins on the main panel) which lists the income of each province. If you click the province in question in the subsequent list, it should tell you the income from trading, broken down into local trade and trade with each other region.

2 other points that can prevent trade. First is I think you need more than the basic trading post, you need to upgrade it to at least a merchant for overseas trade iirc. (Going from memory here)

Second, you have to have the right sort of trade goods, for example if you have silk as a resource, you can't export it to another silk producing region.

Flyboy, i loved MTW, RTW is even better!    I only ever played MTW as the english heheh.:)

Currently playing RTW as the greeks.  So far i've conquered most of the south coast of europe (kicked the romans out of italy:), the middle east and currently have my sights on N africa.

Think i'll play as carthage next, they have quite an interesting mix of troop types.

Rome total war is awesome.

Its like Civilisation III (only better) with battle screens.

I did the Roman campaign, am now the british.  I have conquered the French (wasnt hard) and am now pressing against the germans and spanish.
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

Rome Total War is far better then MTW, especially with added "realism" mods. Turns it from an excellent strat title to the best ever.

With RTW and soon to be released Pacific Fighters, it's going to be hard to find time for anything else. Especially with being also commited to FS9 and VATSIM.
