Going to Eastern Russia(voluntarily)
« on: October 22, 2004, 01:20:43 PM »
Vladivostok, to be exact, in January...
I've been to Russia, and I've been to Japan. This place happens to be in Russia, just West of the Japanese Western coast. Don't know much about the place.

I know it's a stretch, but does anyone know anything beyond that which I can readily find on the internet.

Apparently their new Mayor was elected after his chief rival, who had been edging him out in the polls, was injured in a grenade explosion. Pretty reassuring.

There is at least a dozen of flightsim-enthusiasts in Vladivostok, including many old WB pilots. If you want - I can post your questions on our forum, so you can contact them...

That would be cool Beard, thanks.

I'll be staying with a friend of mine, but I hear the place can be rather interesting in as far as the organized crime element is involved. It's also apparently a big university town, which is reassuring.

Here's a question you might be able to answer yourself, though, Boroda...The father of the girl I'm staying with is the head of customs for that region--or so I'm told. Would you say that's indicative of a straight-laced sort of fellow, or is he one of the guys who travels around in an bulletproof SUV?
