IIRC, Pyro used that as an example of a historical skin that would not be acceptable.

best friends grandfather flew in this plane:

was on the polesti raid, and flew some 30 sucessful missions without even 1 injury to any crew member.
I don't know what to put here yet.

If its the 389th "Blondes Away" it was from the 567th Squadron of that group and was serial # 42-40793.

There were at least three other B24s named "Blondes Away".

yeah, found that looking for his... the one above is the one he was in.

i did some research for him a while back to find this pic (he did not have a single one from the war).

other than that, i dont know a ton about the plane, only what he has told me. sadly i am the only one who will talk or ask him about the war, my buddie is into it to, but doesnt know what to ask about. the rest of the family goes "oh no, more war stories" and leaves the room when i ask him.

asking him about Polesti, he went into the other room and brought out his book on the raid, with TONS of pages marked where friends and himself are mentioned. little hand notes in the side, newspaper clippings, a whole collage of information. he really gets into showing it to me too. sadly, he watched some of his best friends planes get blown out of the sky during the raid, and recounts the times very somberly.

FYI his last name is Peterlous (i believe thats the correct spelling) of anyone wants to look inot skinning his plane.

I don't have specific profiles for those two planes.

Lots of profiles of most of the groups. The Group history I have of the 380th BG, 5th AF has a ton of them.  Lots of 8th AF, some 15th AF etc etc.

I'll keep looking though
