Right now both McNabb and Cullpepper are in the ranks of Rich Gannon who was simply awesome for 18 games one year... and everyone was calling him one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Of course, they were completely forgetting his previous years as quarterback... but that's OK.

They're both having spectacular seasons so far. The main point of the whole "debate" was that both Cullpepper and McNabb were placed there long before they were posting these kinds of numbers. Long before.

I think they were placed into the category because of their immense potential. Culpepper and McNabb were considered the culmination of what was thought to be the ultimate quarterback type: strong, fast, tall and cannon armed. These guys had so much potential that it was automatically assumed that they would be great. I think it took a while for them to mature but both of them, and McNabb especially, have matured into the quarterbacks they were supposed to be.

As for Rush Limbaugh, what he said was stupid. I am a conservative and listen to the man from time to time. This was not one of his finest moments. There may be some in the press that still see bias against black quarterbacks in the league (I don't see how, I think at least 1/3 are black now) but for the most part there is no 'Willie Mays' of African American football players. I personally find that McNabb is a very good role model for most kids. From what I have read about the guy he is very nice, very modest, has a hell of a work ethic and is a team player in every way.

Ya... I do think rush missed the mark on why they were over rated.

It had to do with the "quarterback combine" philosophy. The combines marked a severe downgrade in football talent. It also was the first time team owners finally acknowledged they know very little about athletes or athletics.

Is he still? He was always over rated. To become a good team, the eagles needed to get rid of 3 people. Andy Reid, Donovan McNabb, and Deuce Staley. 1 down, 2 to go.

And by "Getting rid of", I don't mean replacing. All of their backups were always better than they were.

What Limbaugh said about McNabb was one of the most true things ever said about the man. The Media was looking for a hero. McNabb would have trouble hitting his own feet with a football, but the entire team around him has carried him to success. Of course, since he was black and big he got all the credit.

I don't know what's up with that. I haven't had time to follow it recently.

However, take not that both Detmer *AND* Feeley did better in for the Eagles than McNabb had ever done.

Sailor get a clue. Seriously, you are just trying to stir the pot, or you have no idea what you are talking about. I wont even bother bringing up what each guy has done. Mcnabb has matured, and has finally got a quality reciever, something he has never had. Believe the hype.

He had decent receivers, but a pass has to start somewhere.

If the start is messed up, it won't be caught unless there's someone phenomonal on the other side. This is where TO comes in.

McNabb was best before he broke his ankle. When he knew he couldn't pass to someone unless he was absolutely sure he could hit them he could bug out and make a decent gain, especially since he was fast and big. But he hardly ever does this anymore (don't know if it is because of the injury). Instead he just messes up easy passes.

McNabb is having a hot streak. TO is a big reason. I think the credit lies more in the WR than the QB. Give it time, it will fall apart soon when TO throws a tantrum.

McNabb did NOT have decent recievers. James Thrash was the #1 last year, and is now 3rd string at best on the Redskins, who dont exactly have a stellar offence. Pinkston is a pylon.

As for McNabb's ability, I think the numbers would back me up in saying that he is better now than before the broken ankle. He is currently the 3rd rated passer in the league. He seems to have worked on his accuracy (having a reciever that can catch is nice too), and is throwing 66%.

He just sticks with the play longer now before taking off. I have seen him make some miracle escapes this year, I and I seem to remember him busting off a nice 20 yrd TD run against the Vikes. he can still run when he needs to.

As for getting rid of Ried, I'll let his record over the past 4 regular seasons speak for itself. 46-18.

I thought that when the signed him rpm, but I dont see it happening now. Owens is where he fought to be, and has meshed well with McNabb. I just wish the media would stop trying to stir up controversy with him every week. I'm so tired of the Jeff Garcia crap, I cant wait till the Browns game is over, but then I guess we'll be on to the next drama with Ray Lewis

Giving Andy Ried credit for what the Eagles did is much like giving Clinton credit for what he did.

Both were lucky handsomehunkes that were in the right place at the right time.
