A recent article quoted me -- accurately -- as saying "the best place to initiate the death penalty is at 2 a.m. at the ATM when someone comes up to take your money." While that may sound flippant, I remain convinced that an armed citizenry -- and the threat of instant, violent death for those who prey upon others -- is the best safeguard against crime.

That said, I oppose capital punishment in our legal system. My reasoning is simple: I do not trust government to make life and death decisions well, and I therefore prefer not to give government the power to do so when it can be avoided.

In San Francisco or Seattle, he can emphasize his opposition to the drug war, rail against banning gay marriage, promise to bring the troops home from Iraq immediately, and pledge to rescind the Patriot Act. In our discussion, he bashed Bush more than Kerry. It's not that he's inconsistent or pandering – it's just that the Libertarian philosophy cuts the pie in a wholly different way.

Washington DC has an extremely high crime rate and guns are illegal (meaning the law abiding citizens don't have them).

I'd like a punk in DC to (at least) BELIEVE I may be armed.   Might make him think twice.

The quotes I posted are from Pat Robertson, a person George Bush obviously consulted before the Iraq invasion. I find it creepy.
