Who were you?
« on: October 24, 2004, 04:50:26 PM »
On Sun24OCT04 Appox 2:30PM EST I was defending A9 from Bish coming in from A8 in a Bf109G-10.  I was at 16K and noticed several cons higher then me coming in, so I decided to run toward A11 to gain more alt to fight them.  A single P-51 decided to pursue me with a big E advantage.  I knew my best bet was to just run flat because if I dove toward the deck the P-51 would most likely catch me and I knew better then to turn fight a 51 with a G-10.  So I just RAN, but the 51 was slowly gaining on me.  When the 51 got within 2.5 I noticed he started to fall back a little but he was still pursuing me so I turned toward him but was unable to get my guns on him before we merged.  I was forced to go nose down in the later part of the turn to keep him from getting me as he did the same.  I knew my only advantage was my rate of climb & speed, but I figured he would pursue me if I ran plus he would have had more fuel then me.  So I decided to fight and started a spiraling climb when he fell in behind me.  We climbed and climbed until I noticed my G-10 started to get real nasty with me, so I looked at my Alt and noticed we both were over 30K.  I saw him tip his wing down and dive(don't know if he stalled or just wanted to get his E back).  I then started to follow him knowing he would chase me if I did not get him first.  We made a few more passes on each other never getting below 15K nor getting angle on each other.  I was runing low on fuel and figured the best thing to do was RTB and hope he would not follow, which he did not.

This battle lasted over 10 minutes.  I asked on channel 200 several times who it was I was fighting to no avail.  I really enjoyed this fight and would like to know who it was.

Might I suggest turning on the film each flight? That way you can check to see who your opponent(s) were/was simply by using the film viewer.

I understand that wont help with THIS situation, but it should help in the future :)

In the end you should be thankful for those players like us who switch to try and help keep things even because our willingness to do so, helps a more selfish, I want it my way player, get to fly his latewar uber ride.
