Scores... kills per death??
« on: November 20, 2000, 05:59:00 AM »
I have been wondering what is the equation used to calculate the Kills per death ratio. Adding up fighter kills and bomber kills and then dividing them by number of deaths does not come even close.

On the other hand Kills per sorties are calculated like I mentioned above.

So is there a mistake or how is it calculated?

Yours,

Hi BK

Kills per death is calculated by taking the following info from your fighter statistics

K/D = (Fighter kills + Bomber kills) / (deaths + bails + captures + [disco/2] + 1)

death = pilot gets killed in cockpit by bullets, your chute gets shot etc.
bails = you bail out succesful and land in friendly territory.
capture = you bail out and land in enemy territory or ditch in enemy territory
disco = you loose connection.
ditch = you land outside of runway, but in friendly territory.
landing = you come to a stop on the runway, no matter the condition of your plane (collapsed gear etc.)

I also explains how the kill stats works here (the stats that show how many kills you got in any plane against...)

If you want to calculate it like they did in real life, it's kills / (deaths + captured).  Another reason to ignore the score pages...

That's the way I do it, and the only real reason to bail out of a stricken plane (i.e. try to live to fight another day).

If you want to get more accurate data, check the "pilot stats" and figure out K/D yourself.
