KI questions....(tony)

As I understand it, when the Ki-61 first showed up it swung the balance back to the Japanese against the P-40s that were being used in it's area.  Given the time frame I'd guess that those would have been P-40Es.

My experience comes from flying the P-40 against the Ki-61 in the TA and DA. At low speeds, the Ki-61 drops its wing like a crazy. One the other hand, the P-40E is far more stable. In a flaps out stall fight, the Ki-61 absolutely stinks.

We were very surprised too.

The P40 is american, the KI is Japanese.

The magic working here, again, as with all US aircraft in the game, is the flaps. The same incredible flap efficiency that allows P-47s to outturn 109s in a slow-speed sustained turn fight.

Which is the point where you hit WEP in the 109, pull the nose up and leave that big fat Jug out of breath. Just pray he doesn't get a bead on you. If he fails he's dead.

Disagree.  Only problem with the Tony is that it doesn't climb particularly well.  Very important to hold it in the 200-300 mph range; if you do that, it's reallyl a great ride.  Unlike Widewing, I've found that the Tony - even in AH2 - is marginally superior to the P40E in just about everything.  That matchup, though, is one of the best in AH.

i'd be laughing if our new Ki-84 cant outturn P-51s and '38s if flaps are deployed duing lo speeds. :D

hehe...I remember that comment. I have come to find that as wildwing says the plane falls off very suddenly at stall. Realistically it doesnt matter 98% of the time, but against that 2% that can put the fight on the edge its brutal. In both fights with flyboy I could keep all the pieces on the plane till I ran out of alt to trade for E. Since he flew primarily a "top down" fight I never really got the chance to force the issue. So far I havent lost a fight to a spit, nikki,F6 or hurricane (or P-40) eats em all up...now obviously if I run into mathman,Taki,Levi that will change:) :( ....
