"Cookie Cutter Skins"
« on: October 28, 2004, 04:44:06 PM »
Been seeing alot of planes here that are virtually the same...same paint, weathering shading, ect....only thing thats different is the isignia or call sign.

Granted, if you need a batch for a special event, it's easy to do.
But for main arena submissions - I would suggest you do one skin and leave it be...or just use the panel lines and design a whole nother bird with new weathering camo, ect.....

Keep some variety in it and remeber - it's not how much you turn out - it's the quality of the work that matters.

That's why I paint every weathering detail by hand :D

Using the same weathering/smudge patterns again and again... man, that makes me feel bad!

LOL! (6 hours later on the grime marks..)

I know it sucks, but in the end it looks good.
The skin has it's own "characteristics"
Some of  the skins-you look down and see the same "weather mark" on the wing. Sorry, but i'm a stickler for details...change it up a bit...I don't care if it takes 36 hours! lol!
