Lost Nvidia control panel in WinXP
« on: October 28, 2004, 06:30:37 PM »
Hmmm, I went to modify my settings a bit to see just what the limits are on my current setup before I install the new processor tomorrow.  When I was running Win98 my Nvidia control panel had settings for enabling/disabling Vsync, AntiAliasing, Gamma, etc.  Now all those controls are gone!  I checked in my control panel and found the Nvidia control panel icon, and it was turned off.  So I turned it on, and while it did bring up more options than I had in the standard WinXP controls, I still have no way of affecting the biggies, esp. the Vsync and AA.  Can anyone help me figure out what I've done here?  Thanks.

I run XP and Nvidia.  My control panel has controls for:

Desktop Manager
Screen resolution
Screen refresh rate
Color quality
Performance and quality
Custom color settings
Rotation settings
Desktop color controls
Analog display
and about the settings

This is with the current Omega drivers and an FX5200 card.

If you lose it again try this sequence:

Right-Click on an empty portion of your Desktop.

When the Menu appears, Left-Click on "Properties".

In the new window that opens, Left-Click the "Settings" Tab.

Left-Click the "Advanced" button.

Left-Click the "GeForce" Tab.

In the left-side slide-out menu Left-Click on the "Troublshooting" item.

Put a check in the "Display the NVIDIA Settings icon in the taskbar" box.

Left-Click the "Apply" button.

You should now have access to the NVIDIA Settings icon in the Taskbar.

I Hope this helps...

Thats just the problem.  Clicking on the Advanced button didnt get me anything useful.  All I got were choices to make windows transparent when dragging, stuff like that.  I had it add the Settings icon in the task bar, it brought up the same weak-a** menu.  Whatever it was installing the Omega drivers gave me back control of everything.
