Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

I don't know about the beer... I gave up drinking before the micro breweries came out here  and have heard that you can probly get the best beer in the worl here now.

no matter what tho... I never wanted to drink warm beer.   I heard the brits only drink warm beer tho because they have joe lucas built refridgerators...  or maybe it's just the weather.

Ah, two more tidbits that you've "heard". You hear a lot of things, don't you Lazs? One thing I learned a long time ago was to be selective about believing the things I'd "heard". Especially in a pub, and more especially in a pub after 10pm.

What's a Joe Lucas refrigerator? Ripsnort once said (well actually he cut and pasted, because he never posts anything original):
Quote
Brits snack on tiny sandwiches taken out of refrigerators that barely house a small bottle of milk and a few daily necessities, while America's housewives shop less frequently because their refrigerators are close to walk-in size. All because American working folks produce more of just about everything in any year than their European counterparts.
And of course, it's bollocks. The inside of my refrigerator looks like this.

There are some much bigger refrigerators of course, but I live alone so mine is good for me. As you can see it could hold numerous packages of frozen french fries, several pounds of hamburger meat, a couple of turkeys, 5 gallons of milk, a few cream krispy kreme pies, 4 gallons of ice cream. And yet here's Ripsnort saying that our refrigerators are only big enough to house a few daily necessities.

Oh wait - I guess that for a corpulent American, the above list IS just a few daily necessities! :rofl

Would that be the same "world" that hosts the "world" series? ;)

Touché Vorticon! "but, thanks to your ultra low socialist wages, its empty." What is this "wages" word? Oh, is that the term for money acquired by working? Thanks to some good investments, I don't need to work. :D:aok

Nice one, Vorticon. Your serve Beetle:)  Let's have fridge flame war. ;)   My refrigerator is bigger than yours. I aspire to one of those big 'American' fridges as they're called here.  I love the icemaker feature. The trouble is you have knock out part of the wall to get them in some houses. Yes our itsy bitsy little houses here in the old world.  Naturally I would fill it with beer. Probably Stella Artois which is my current favourite, worry not American friends it's Belgian not French.

By the way Beetle you use Paddies for a mixed group but I suppose not for a bunch of girls.  How about Marys? I'll bet one of the girls was called Mary?

Yes, Lazs there is a lot of sitting around in pubs here too. It's the fault of the English again, damm them. They forced their culture on us. We were sober and hardworking until they invaded. Now we have no choice but we don't really like drinking and socialising but we can't help ourselves now.   ;)  But we really do like to do other things as well, like shooting/racing/betting/fishing/dancing/singing but it all ends up in the pub eventually. Occasionally all at the same time.

The further North you go the more drinking goes on, it is those long nights. When it gets dark at 3:30 on winter afternoons and isn't light until after 8 am. You soon get fed up and feel like a drink or ten.

Agreed. The very worst thing about our winters is not the wet, the wind, the frost, the fog - it's the damned darkness, which seems almost perpetual sometimes.

is there a beer in the world that we can't get here?

I have a tiny little fridge like beetles myself... they cost about $400 here and nobody but apartment dwellers and single guys buy em.

every house built here will allow you to move in a big screen TV or monster fridge and every house has hookups for ice makers and such.

we laugh at people who spend too much time in bars here.

I forgot, I just had a new kitchen installed and bought all new appliances to go with it.  I had the delivery guys move my old frig into the basement where I installed a tap in the door hooked to a 1/4 keg inside.

Draft beer us now 10 steps away..... :p
