Saddam's 'Killing Field'
Sunday, October 17, 2004
By Greg Palkot

A trench with piles of clothed bodies packed tightly together. Men, women, little children. Even unborn children. Some blindfolded. Some with their hands bound. All slaughtered in cold blood by the henchmen of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

All of this horror was discovered in another mass grave in the desert wasteland of northwestern Iraq, near the town of Hatra. It was discovered a year ago, and only now is it being carefully and scientifically excavated by the Regime Crimes Liaison Office. This agency, part of the U.S. Justice Department, is working with the Iraqi interim government to map out the horrors of the Hussein past.

The head of the unit, Greg Kehoe, who has seen more than his share of horrors in places such as the Balkans, couldn’t believe what he saw.

"I’ve never seen women and children executed, defenseless people executed in this fashion," he said. "I mean, you look at a young woman holding her 2-year-old child with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. I can’t find any reason to justify that."

What exactly are you saying Whitehawk?  Are you saying that the situation now is worse for Iraqi's with Saddam no longer murdering them wholesale?  Or are you saying that the US is doing worse things there now that Saddam has been removed?

Right or wrong for going in, we have a duty to stay tell the Iraq people can elect a government of their own. One That will not be overthrown by religous nuts.

We may be there for a long time.

Pulling out now would be a big mistake, a bigger one then going in, in the first place.

The only way anything good will come out of it, is if in 20 years Iraq is a thriving country with a real non dictator government.

That may be a dream and unlikely but since we invaded we should stay and try.

now that is a good question. we stayed in germany because of the cold war... thats been over for how long now.... geeze. as for Iraq we have to sustain the new government until their first unaided election (IAW Law of War). then once the elections happen a new reason will surface on why we have to stay.. i guess that im trying to say is that our foreign policy stinks.

I really think Americans got spoiled on alot of our "quick wars" that we've had in the last 15 years.  Now that there's a slug it out conflict were the fight needs to be sustained there's no more stomach for it.

But of course America can do no right in the eyes of the world now can we?

Saddam only wholesale murdered those that opposed him, exactly as the US is doing right now.
You tell me sling, after taking 250,000,000,000.00 out of our pockets, and our childrens and grand childrens, and no end in sight.  Do you think the US is better off today than before the war?
Do you think that the wholesale murder of women and children has stopped?
I just read the other day of 37 murdered new iraqi military recruits .  Wow.  Did they use boxcutters?  50 dead from a carbomb here, 40 dead there, fallujah is under US control, yet again.  Hmmmm,
You tell me sling how are we better?
