your line of thought is impressive pongo.  I dont believe I have ever read such lucidity coming from you and believe me, its a real treat.

Still, I am not swayed to your line of thinking.  Not that there is a challenge in that.  I just think you are wrong when all of the historical data is taken into consideration.

No, I was referring to the other war in Iraq. The one where all the cool terrorist kids wanna go so they can fight US forces. The one that keeps them there in their own little sun baked sand blown fundamentalist delusional back yard dying by the thousands as opposed to coming over to MY country and starting trouble again. The one that protects and furthers the interests of MY nation and is being payed for in the blood of MY countrymen. The one I spent 12 months in the middle of and expect to spend 6-12 more in next year. My only regret: that I could have accomplished more in the time and the limited opportunities I was given. There's always next time.

By the way, Gixer, I couldn't care less how much a litre of gas costs in New Zealand. I don't have any idea whatsoever who the leader(s) of your country are nor do I care enough to learn. I am far beyond giving a dang what someone on the other side of the planet thinks about me, my country, or our geopolitical interests or how we choose to pursue them. It's all so inconsequential, you see..at least to me and the people I know and care for. What you, the nation of New Zealand, the people of the South Pacific, the indigenous kangaroo population or anyone else thinks goes far beyond my realm of influence and affects me personally in no way whatsoever. Don't like my country, our policies or our chosen leaders? Ok, get up and petition your government to put their foot down. Perhaps they'll liberate us.

Does this answer your question?

The war in Iraq? Well they didn't start that one did they? And your countrymen like Britains are paying for a political mistake.

As for NZ and it's leaders, NZ's leader hardly effects the world with it's decsions like  Bush, what he does effects us all.

I would suggest taking this up with the U.N.  They know how to handle despotic country leaders.

Your opinion has been considered and appropriately filed.

I applaud your honesty at cutting away the crap. I am afraid that your straw grasping to find some reason to continue is delusional. But the honest is refreshing.

So I'm being honest in a delusional dishonest way? What *are* you trying to say, anyway?

I'm not grasping at straws, either, Pongo. My motivations have not necessarily paralleled the President's all along. I have always thought this was a good idea, but not for the same reasons as many other supporters. I've never claimed otherwise.

If you've never seen it then you haven't paid attention.  Also my support of the party does not imply agreement with every LP statement or position.  And I wasn't making fun of the body count, so much as the tardriffic "I SAW IT ON TEH INTERNETS IT MUST BE TRUE" statfest.

This part of your post is the only thing in it I can agree with totally. The "affecting us all" doesn't necessarily follow. That office does not make ALL decisions in this country much less towards all other nations.

Gas is a $1.30 a litre. Sure it's not the sole cause of the price hike but having a war in Iraq and so much instability thanks to Bush's stupidity and rush to war hardly helps.

Though thankfully the US dollar is very weak at the moment thanks again to Bush so the gas price could be alot worse.
