Getting fuggin ridiculous
« on: October 30, 2004, 02:05:20 AM »
OK guys nice game, apart from the absolute total BS that goes on....examples-

1) 500+ in dive in Tempest catching F4U, he goes over the top drops back behind and starts catching - sorry defies ALL the laws of physics.
2) The around 1.5k warp that happens when your in a GV (say osty). i.e plane will warp from 3k or so to 1.5k.
3) The way planes spin and rotate around their axis right in front of you with NO forward movement. Yes I've heard that no-one at HTC has ever seen it, believe me IT HAPPENS!!!
4) 190/109s doing flat 180 degree turns coming outta them as fast if not faster then they went into them.
5) Inside dar circle, dar up at field, cons not showing up at 20k!!!!
6) Planes strafing CV's to death, PUUULLLLLEASE.

Like I said great game, stop sacrificing flight models etc for 'eye candy'. Yes trees, airfields, towns look ever so pretty but I'm sure most people would prefer GV damage model, flight models etc to be fixed first.
Hopefully lot of the problems (eg buff damage transfer which is carry over from AH1 for gods sake) will be fixed in 2.01.

Then again I'm not holding my breath.

Then again I guess it's just netlag, my system, my CPU, my vid card (standard get out clauses).

Sometimes I wonder if you actually pay any attention to bugs that don't involve fighters.

Yes i understand that you maybe play from HTC HQ, unfortuneately 99.999999999% DON'T.

While I'm at it -
The your FE my FE collision thing.
How come this doesn't apply to bullets, i.e. my FE showed hits, his FE didn't?
Or is it you do check for  bullet hits, but not for collisions?
In which case why is it 99% of time in a collision guy with better connection gets collision other guy flys off like nothing happened?

Sorry if this goes on a bit but IMO this game has gone from AH1, not bad with a few probs to AH2 a total farce.

I read somewhere that a beefey mossie could strafe down a carrier no problem. Unless the pilot got a 5-incher in his forehead, ofcourse.

I too note that certain "evasive manouveres" can cause the ac I am chasing to seem to wildly "tumble" about its axis.

The effect is similar to micro warping but instead of the ac moving position it violently moves attitude and orientation.

During this tumbling I cannot discern any idea of the ac's actual attitude......hence the ac will pull out of the tumble in a direction  that is impossible for me to anticipate .

This "tumble" evasive is one I see mostly in 190's and  I have assumed its linked to the rendering of high roll rate evasives with quite violent rudder reversals on my FE.

I have seen similar "tumbling" on other ac  (Lavochkins) but this usually pre empts a stall......hence I assume the manouvre has induced a hi speed stall during its attempt.

The motion is usually quarter to quarter (never end over end) eg it may flick from low 7 view to high 4 view with the nose up or down side ways or quartered. The tumbling will flick to full belly or cockpit but will rarely if ever flick to a forward view or forward quarter view.

Notice the term "flick to"....  movement is not visualised instead we are presented with seemingly random ac profiles.

To watch it one might think that my FE software was over anticipating the directional data it was recieving (or not damping it sufficiently) causing massive corrections when the data is refreshed .............this would only be obvious close up when the evasives attempted are violent.

Sounds exactly like what I (and others) get. Aircraft appears to tumble on the spot.
Tilt I use Cyberonic.

The way the flight model works it renders the way you are pointing. However, it's a prediction.

NOTE:

STICK STIRRING TAKES PLACE!

Pilots can AND HAVE waited til an enemy is right on their tail, then they will quickly "stir" their joystick in all directions. THIS CAUSES THE FE TO SPIN THE PLANE IN PLACE while they still fly alone their same path. IF YOU SEE THIS shoot dead center on the plane. Kill that lameass where he sits. He is still flying along the same path, so just aim dead center and blast him to Hades.

It's lame. It happens. It's a fact. I don't even think HT can do anything about it, due to the way the code works.

Good post, the "con i chase, who turns around in a 180 and gains on me" has always irked me.

Hope it gets resolved.
