More Problems
« on: November 02, 2004, 10:52:05 AM »
After downloading 2.01 or whatever it is today I would freeze up every time I click a runway to deploy. I restored computer to the day I installed XP...1 week ago (brand new 80GB HD) and still had same problem. I partitioned, formatted and loaded a second BRAND NEW HD and had same problem. This is with XP sp2, Video driver from manufacturer's site, and AH2 only. Same problem (I know it's my computer, not the game right?)
So I deleted all files in squads folder, they reloaded when I logged in again, and again I could not up on runway. Computer froze in tower view as I click on a runway to up from, and VOX would loop on it's last transmission. I then deleted skins files, and I was able to up no problem. 2 sorties and the problem was back, even with "skins disabled" in video setup options. I checked the skins folder and there was 1 file "skins.res" 2kb in the folder. I delete it and I get 1 or 2 sorties, then game freezes when I try to up.
All of my squad that I spoke to (about 30-40 of them) reported microwarping, and it was constant and rapid, that is until MA closed.

Set your apeture to 256 since u only got 512 megs ram.  You don't want to allocate all your ram to agp as U need some of it to operate rest of system.

AGP aperture is fairly unimportant nowadays.
All it is, is main system memory set aside for when graphics card memory runs out.
As most of todays cards have 128Mb or more you can safely set AGP aperture to 64mb, sometimes as low as 32mb, and no this does not DISABLE AGP as can be found stated in various places.

There is a bug with bomb loadouts on the spit 9 and 14. It will lock you up if you try fly with those load outs.

I dont believe it. Skuzzy thought it was spyware or a virus so I've been pulling my hair out running every test known to man or beast (yes, I asked my wife)
I like the spit for easy kills and defense so is this anything that may be fixed soon?

It is fixed for next patch, just don't load bombs on the spit  and you will be fine.

'for bribes'
« Reply #8 on: November 06, 2004, 12:11:41 PM »
Why would anyone want to bribe Hitech?
(see 'for bribes link' in Hitech's signature)

Afterall, we pay to play Aces High and Hitech would want to do whatever was reasonable to keep his customers happy, right?

Isn't it enough that we pay for this buggy game?

I couldn't connect to AH online last night (Friday, Nov 5) for 20 minutes. Couldn't connect to AH bulletin board, either. My connection to the rest of the internet was fine.

Hitech ought to bribe us to stay with this crappy server and buggy game. Even suggesting the opposite in jest is outrageous.
