Don't dumb down bombers!
« on: November 02, 2004, 09:02:01 PM »
I like a lot of the new changes. Yet I don't understand why the bombing protocol had to be changed. Youhave taken something requiring some skill and dumbed it down. Bring it back please. Don't bring it all down because a few want it dumbed down. I want the old site and skill method of bombing. Keep up the good work. It looks and rides great.
Peace

This is a real conundrum:confused:

WHile I HATE the idea of dumbing down bombers....there is very little 'skill' involved in holding a marker on a spot...it takes a few practice runs...but its not a real skill (unless you consider doorknobs a skill).  The old callibration did create one big problem for bomber pilots that fly alone....you are required to leave yourself defenseless for 10-15 seconds as you callibrate (and its pretty easy to tell when someone is callibrating).

Lets see how this works out

It's different? I thought it was the same. I thought my bombs just got smarter.

Both versions are lame. Give us back the original bomb sight. :D

i really dont see a problem

its NICE to see high alt bombers agian.

I bombed before, with the old hard bombsite, and had a VERY good success rate, so the new bombsite dont matter to me. What does matter is ive got other people WILLING to wing, or join bomber missions because now they can succed in bombing.

you still got to fly straight and level for 25-50miles to keep a stable speed, you still got to go into the bombsite (risking getting shot down) to "set it up" and you still got to go in the bombsite to drop.

More bombers in the sky, more people to attack, more escorts to fly, more escorts to shoot down. I really really dont see the problem, its going to add MORE fun.

Point is Overalag why dumb it down.
Geez in that case I want a gunsight that accounts for closure, attitude and aspect so all I have to do is put it on the target and squeeze.
No difference, OK I'll allow that you have to press the 'Y' key for auto aim for fighters also.

Or how about GV's put the crosshair on enemy hold down 'Y' key and it calculates distance/elevation of enemy GV. Same thing.

why?

because bombers was not getting used in numbers

why?

because bombers was flying at 200 feet and NOT bothering

why?

Why not.

I really dont understand the problem just up a 109g10, 190a8 or a 110G2 and you get 3 easy kills

anyway, why do you think its auto aim?
Bombers already lost night to make fighter guys happy, Bombers bugs generaly get fixed slower than fighter bugs. And anyway, you can still fly your plane the way you want, anything Bombers bomb at fields will reupp in 15minutes anyway, HQ reupps in under 10minutes due to this stupid resupply system........

So you actually think this will stop buffs flying at 200ft?

Dream on.

It's as close to auto aim as you can get without going all the way back to the noskill bomb method. No real skill involved in pushing the 'Y' key.
Perhaps this could be called the 'pushkey' bombing method?

I totally agree regarding HQ and night.

Maybe we'll get powerups in the next patch, it's going arcade anyway.

The fighter gunsight is easy mode.  No melting gun barrels for dweeb length bursts. No jams. No turbulence from the bombers.
easy mode.

I guess if the bomber pilot didn't hafta climb down to the bombadier's perch himself to do all the extra technical razamataz that the bombadier would normally be doing enroute to the target while the pilot pilots and the co-pilot co-pilots and the navigator navigates and the radioman radios and the tailgunner whistles dixie .....
