I was expecting this to be long and drawn out. I think what Kerry did was the smart thing to do, I really didnt see any hope for him getting Ohio and glad he ended it without bringing in the lawyers. I really had no respect for Kerry until today.

Actually it seems that it was Kerry who went against his advisors and Edwards and called it, not advisors telling him to fold.

Give your props to Kerry, he's the one who ended it when it was time to end it.

I thought it interesting that Ohio lost 1/4 million jobs and George STILL won.  Not a lot of people here thought it was going to happen.

Still have no respect for him OR Edwards.

Kerry had no chance to win...none!

So he had to make a choice 1)contest everytyhing even though it wasn't close or 2)concede and try to keep his name from becoming a joke like Gore.

He really had no choice.

Class had nothing to do with it. He never showed ANY in this election nor do I expect him to start showing any now.

I find that it's the really vocal ones who voice hatred.  Mostly people just want to go about their business while still maintaining opinions, just not hate filled ones.

Pongo,

I don't know.  I voted, but I don't understand the need to demonize the oposition.  Just because I voted against Bush doesn't mean that I need to view him as a simpering moron who caters his wealthy elite backers.

Personally I think Bush thinks he is doing the right thing and helping this country.  In some cases I agree with his actions.  I don't have any aminosity towards him personally.

I think that maybe some people put too much trust into believing their side is being honest in it's propaganda such as F9/11 or SBVfT.

I dunno, but it seems unhealthy for the country.

It is refreshing that Kerry threw in the towel and didn't drag it out.  I can't help but wonder, though, if he did it just to save face for the next election.

I wouldn't have minded waitin on the provisional/absentee ballots to be counted in Ohio, but I'm guessing that after looking at the numbers Kerry decided it wasn't worth the hassle.  Most of the folks I know feel the same way and it wouldn't have bothered them to wait for Ohio to count the provisional/absentee ballots... but we're all relieved it's not going to be a circus like 4 years ago :aok

Kerry made the call to concede - the lawyers wanted to go in Delta Force style.

I really wonder what Kerry and Bush talked about today. They both mentioned that they talked for a while and Bush was much more subdued than I would have expected during his victory speach.

What do you expect the Dems to say? We lost, fair and square, and I for one am relieved this election wasn't stolen the way the Bushes stole the election in 2000.

If Kerry had no chance, then how come he got a good number of electoral votes?

I'm not for Kerry, but the whole 'no chance' comment isn't applicable. It could be better used if it was a gap of a hundred, but it with just a few states.

Since 1968, never have there been so many voters to come out and vote and it was close.

People expected Kerry to put to use the 10k of lawyers he was fielding to catch fraud, but he didn't, that shows that he put trust in the people of the U.S. to do things right.

And your evidence for this claim is what?

Independent ballot examiners looked into the 2000 Florida result and found that Bush had indeed won the state. It was very close, but Bush was the legitimate winner.

Your comment only indicates a willingness to lets other think for you. Don't do that! You're bright enough to draw your own conclusions.

Investigate the facts and avoiding parroting someone else's lie, which I'm certain you wouldn't knowingly do.

Widewing, I long ago abandoned thinking for myself in favor of slogans and sound bytes. I, Sir, am a Democrat.
