It was on an episode of monster garage. Repost or not, this video is worth a look:

Cars don't stand up to bullets well at all.  That minigun is absolute overkill.  An AK-47 is enough to pretty much shred a car.  Even pistol bullets will pierce almost eveythig except the wheels and block.  In other words if you hide behind the door like they do on TV, you die.

At 3000 rounds per minute it's hardly the "fastest gun in the world", still, cool video.
Here we put salt on Margaritas, not sidewalks.

actually... pistols are somewhat ineffective against cars unless they hit glass and bodies at 90 degree angles... if a 40 caliber (pretty much standard police) or 45 hits a brace in the car it will not penetrate,  cops were way better off in my opinion with .357 and 44 revolvers but... little people and women can't typicaly handle em.

bout 50-50 chance that 40's will penetrate through more than the door skin.   Have seen em glance off really raked windshields or back windows or be deflected badly.     Buckshot mostlyu just dents things up... shyotgun slugs will penetrate about like pistol rounds.

need 223 or other medium power rifle rounds to be sure.

well... that was far from a moot point eh?

What is the point of anything blue?   why even get out of bed in the morning... we will just have to pay taxes and die anyway...

Tue, pistols don't always penetrate...but they will go through often enough that I wouldn't want to stake my life on it.

I have a .45 USP.  I'd carry a .357 except a lot of departments frown on revolvers.  They feel that 6 shots simply isn't enough (your theory on it is probably closer to the actual truth than their fishy-sounding excuse, especially since all qualification here is done with groups of 6 rounds or less).   My own opinion is that if you can't hit with 6, you'll miss with 12.

A Gun like that makes great music all on its own

jab... that is not the entire reason (the one about small people)... it simply took more effort to learn to use a powerful revolver...

another thing was the habit of officers cocking the hammer to prove they were "serious"...  most gunfights in the revolver days lasted 1.7 rounds.... now it is up to about 7  the fights haven't but the tools have.    You can get 8 shot 357's and you can get full moon clips that make loading (with practice) a revolver faster than a semi.... a revolver will shoot faster than a semi auto too.

toward the end of the revolver reign..  there were special converted S&W's that were double action only.... they were even harder to learn to shoot well..  revolvers are more accurate but much more difficult to learn to use effectively

Blue it's just a TV show.  Not sure if you get it were you live but it was all in fun.

The car in the show was a failure in a contest.  Every car that's failed get's destroyed in some kind of extreme way.
