As per the SEAC one, can't set weathering properly until shinyness can be turned off.
But once we can do that will be ready to go shortly after.

Very strange.

You'd better ask Superfly or Natedog about this one. I remember them mentioning that the new skin formats will not use the 'glares', and those with such glares are gonna be remodelled, too.

Perhaps there's an alpha texture for the gloss amongst the downloaded textures??

Spoke to Pyro they are going to provide a 'flag' to turn off shinyness.
Yes I know they said wouldn't do it again, but they also said they wouldn't build colors into models (try removing the anti - glare panel - YOU CAN'T).

Thanks for the comments, but will not be doing finishing touches or submitting it until we can turn off shinyness, weathering layers just don't look right. With shinyness off all the opacitys will need adjusting.

Think the anti-glare, de icer boots. engine, and tires have a non-reflective specularity.

Cc -

Would be nice to be able to do a 'specularity map' of a skin and be able to submit that to have it turned in with a skin.

Theres alot of 24s with natural metal tops sides with non spec grey underneath as well as many combinations of spec/nonspec colors/surfaces.

I think the specularity has to be built into the model as of now. I don't think you can do a layer for reflective properties yet...
would be nice though to have a layer similar to the way an alpha layer works to do refelctive properties.

Looks great Kev.  Can't wait to see it without the shine.  Sure wish they'd let us get at the ant-glare panal as well.

The 24 is really one that could produce a huge variety of skins too.  The RAF and RAAF birds along with the USAAF and USN

Waffle - I suggested an alpha map (eg FS2004) to Pyro but they are worried it would double the size of the file. When we get the flag option it will be all or nothing, there will be no way to set parts of the model/skin differently.

cc - i know that, but they've reduce the texture maps from what we were capable of in Ah2 with the old models using 3-6 1024x1024 bmps. only having 2 1024x1024 bmps for texture per plane saves momory.

Yeah the buff skins used to be 2 x 1024 bmps.
Now its only 1, and with that comes a price-: less area (1/2 in fact) = less detail.
Maybe should go back to 1 with fuselage and misc stuff, another one with wings. Just so we can get the detail back in.
