Rip you might know this. A while back I saw a documentary on volcanoes, and a technique being used to forecast eruptions. It had to do with something called a "long term event." More or less its the seismic signature of resonance created by magma movement. As far as I know, it was still being studied and I 'm wondering if they are testing it at Mt St.Helens, and if any local stories have been run about it.

They have been testing at St Helens majorly since the 1980 Titanic eruption ... They do have sort of a seismic signature for the area now and are getting better at forcasting eruptions , but its still sort of guesswork, We live in a very High Earth quake area and its almost a constant tremmer we've got going on.
There not the big quakes, most of the time just alot of 1.0-2.8's
So there compeating with that fact too .

We get shows about it all the time on the pbs and Collage ran stations up here . plus we have the USGS For current info and all the Seismic tests past and present .

I can't add any more than Rosco has added.

Yesterday we had a series of small earthquakes 1 mile deep beneath Mt. Rainier! Thats some scarey watermelon since we live just 25 miles (as the crow flies) from the crater.

Scientists predict that Rainier will most likely erupt in the future. Within the last 10 years there has been in increase of seismic activity. They, like myself could foresee the consequences and devestaion. I also believe the scientists have said that Three Sisters peak might erupt soon as well.
