Memories...

Sprinting the last mile in a 1/2 marathon trying to do under 1hr 30 for first time..and watching a 60+ year old man in full stride blow on by.

Hamilton 30k...at the half way mark there is a lift bridge which started lifting as the lead pack approached...Runners from around the world cursing in every language for 10minutes..so a small sail boat could pass...ooops..Wtg race organizers

I cannot believe, knowing what we do about the damaging effects of cigarettes, that anyone still smokes in this day and age.

You need to quit.

SirLoin,

The trophy for "youngest runner" went to a 3 1/2 month old boy who finished the run in 32 minutes.   His mother finished a half second after he did ;)

Let me tell you though.  Not having ran that far in quite a while MY ANKLES ARE KILLING ME TODAY.

I really don't care about the time.  My co-worker "stretch" who runs distance regularly finished 2 minutes ahead of me.

when I told him I tried to catch him on the back stretch but ran out of steam he simply replied "everyone has to run there own race" and I think that's applicable here.

Airhead  I've tried to quit a grand total of 15 times and none has lasted more than a week.  I'm thinking of trying again in january.  The last time almost ended my marraige.

EDIT:

THE COOLEST THING WAS I WON A RAFLE PRIZE!

My son and I will be doing our brand new CHIA SHREK!

Did a 10K over the summer.  Thought about running a marathon next year.  Will probably continue to think about it.

I run generally between 3-4 miles every other day.  Since I am a big fat guy in the Army (5'10, 200lb) I have to run and work out constantly to keep myself in shape.

Good job on the 5K.  Quit the cancer sticks and it will get a lot easier.  Trust me, I stopped about five years ago and my runs got a lot easier.

I was active Army for over 10 years, just got out a few months ago. I run that much at least 3-4 times a week. If I ran a time like that I wouldn't post it. Carry on.

Guns, take some Glucosamine Sulfate. It's great stuff for joints and cartilage. I have a rotator cuff injury and rarely notice it anymore. If I stop taking it the pain shows back up in a week or two.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.
