HQ bug?
« on: November 13, 2004, 01:08:03 AM »
Two days in a row I took a B-24 formation to first Rook HQ, then Bish HQ and dropped all 24k of bombs with a direct hit on the big HQ building with no effect. At least I think it was 24. I had a loadout of 8-1k bombs with a salvo of 8, dropping from 20k with a 20 sec calibration.

Did something change about hitting HQ in the upgrade?

Also, after dropping load of bombs, on the inflight map, I could not bring up anything right clicking on the map or scrolling with the left mouse button. The only way to reset the map is to go back to the tower.

A few patches back the hardness ( yes I said "Hardness") of the HQ was doubled. I think it takes 38k now to kill HQ.  I killed Bish HQ 4 time with Lancasters - so it is posable - but only Lancasters carry enough ord now.  :)

Thanks Maddox.

I checked the latest help file for Strategic targets and HQ. They still list it as taking 19,000 lbs to take out HQ for two hours.

The bomber calibration procedure still has the setting of altitude with the map.

I can't find any documentation about increased hardness in any of the readme files.

As usual, it sounds like it's info that is passed by word of mouth. Some year, the company will update the manual. Not exactly the way to go. I guess I have to ask in the MA for basic info, like a newbie.

Thanks again.

there was information on this, it is not just an increase in hardness but also the effect of bombing an HQ takes only it is completely destroyed.  So it is either up or down.

Thanks FD.

I'm curious to know where the hardness info was. Was it on a posting for one of the patches? Can't seem to find any info on it. I try to read all the patch updates and readmes, but haven't had much time online lately. Guess I missed it somewhere along the way.

Thanks again guys.

The numbers are just units of damage and hardness nothing realy to do with LB's.

If you've made your text buffer invisible, chances are good you've enlarged it and it covers the clipboard preventing you from clicking through it or you've left the bombsite in calibration mode.
Easy in-game again.

HQ hardening was mentioned in a readme. Not sure, but i think it was same time where the min airbases to get reset got changed from 1 to k, k being diffrent on each map.

The manual is out of datea, plane performance outdated usw.

Automatic bombsight can be on or off, so it makes sense to still describe the old way.

Negative on the Text buffer and calibration mode.  Thanks for suggestion though.

The map worked fine, until dropping load of bombs on HQ. It happened both times I spent the hour or so to get to HQ. (Haven't been able to survive on a regular bombing run to notice if the same thing happens after dropping on a regular field.)

Things went back to normal after going back to tower.

The k thing is new news to me??  Wasn't online much in August. Guess I missed a lot.
