CH Pro pedals gameport cnx
« on: November 13, 2004, 06:46:08 PM »
Those pedals have a cable with 3 connectors: gameport, aux and joystick. I'm trying the combination Joystick to the joy connector of pedals cable, and then gameport to the Audio card gameport(J -> P -> Audio), but without any success. I'm trying to do that with a Saitek X36F joy alone (without the throttle). Any ideas? Is the connection correct? should I use a normal analog joystick instead of X36F?

Any way to force the system to recognize those as a standalone 1 axis joystick without real joy attached?

First of all you have to make sure your gameport on your soundcard is recognized.  Have you ever used it before?  Is there a gameport built in to your computer in addition to the one on the soundcard?  Even if there is not, you may have settings for one in your BIOS that have to be disabled before the sound card gameport will be recognized.

Isnt the X36 a USB joystick?  If not, then yes you are hooking it up correctly.  The joystick plugs into the rudder pedals and the pedals plug into your gameport.

What version of windows are you running?  XP wont recognize the CH analog stuff.  You have to go to the CH website and download the drivers that will put the CH equipment into the list.  Make sure when you select your joystick from the game devices list that you click the checkbox below for rudder pedals.  No matter what you will never see the CH pedals show up in a list, they are considered to be part of the joystick.  But you still have to check that checkbox every time or it will think there are no pedals there.

Thanks StarOfAfrica.

The X36F has two connectors at the end of its cord, one is USB and the other is normal gameport. When I plug the joy alone to the computer using the gameport it is recognized as a joy (doesnt work, but is recognized), so I tried to plug the joy to the pedals port and pedals to the computer gameport, but joy was not recognized as connected this way.

My previous setup was something weird. X45 as normal joy/throttle and then a combo of analog thrustmaster FLCS+TQS+CH pro pedals. Yerterday, the FLCS said bye-bye and TQS + pedals alone are no more recognized as a connected joy. So, it seems I will need to buy an analog joy, the problem is that nobody sells analog joys these days.

Check eBay and you can find plenty. In fact there was a huge buy it now grouping of SunCom split throttles and joysticks on there the other day. Along with several TM F-16/F-22 FLCS rigs.

As a matter of fact.......

CH still sells analog "legacy" sticks on their site, and they are DIRT CHEAP.  Pretty much it looks like they are trying to clear out leftover products.  Joysticks can be had for under 20 bucks.  I use a CH Flightstick Pro and the Pro Pedals (analog) and I wouldnt trade em for the world.  I'll only upgrade to the USB stuff under one of three circumstances.

1)  Someone gives them to me (joystick and pedals in USB format)

2)  The pedals give out.  The joystick I can still replace for cheap.

3)  CH comes out with a new version of their FF stick that is USB.  If they do that I'll buy in a heartbeat and never regret the money.
