How bout a "new" arena...
« on: November 14, 2004, 12:48:03 PM »
After spending a few moments (sadly all it took) in the joke called the CT how bout bulldozing it and starting over. I can think of a bunch of options...

1) a RPS arena, no perks just a 43 and earlier or some such till the plane set fills out.....

2) a GV only arena....its a bigger and bigger part of the game.

3) An "airpower" only arena...no captures...but allow bases to be bombed to rubbles

4) A "capture the flag arena" ...you win by knowcking out the other guys HQ...basically the fighters support the strat weenies...yuk

5) a fighter only arena...no capture no buffs....

Basically you've got an arena the almost no one uses as is...why not look at something thats both different and more appealing...

What's wrong with the CT??  Last 2 versions have been ok (Finnland & Okinawa).

I wouldn't mind an early-war arena, though (39-42?).

I'd be very interested in a rolling plane set, particularly if it were from 1940 to 1943.

Someone want to suggest a timeline for it?

Would the plane set be according to country?  If there were two countries in the RPS arena, would one get Axis planes, the other Allied?  I'd assume so, since what we're looking for is historical match-ups.

humble STFU untill u fly in the CT more then 5 time how about flyin in there almost everyday for three years THEN u can talk watermelon about it. untill then how about u go back to the MA and trash talk the gangbanging, cherrypicking, trashtalking, and vulching that goes on in there. oh no not the MA where spit-tards can fight spit-tards. if u dont like the CT noones forceing u to fly there. most ppl fly in the CT then the TA or DA y not bulldoze them, no we cant doze then cuz they allow u to fly any plane u want.

This could all be addressed by map makers.  With such large maps available why not have some areas with restricted plane sets and others based on a good ground war?

I think AH is in dyer need of another arena.  I wouldn't bulldoze the CT because it has a small handfull of fanatics that seem to enjoy numbers under 10.

I do think we need a fighter arena, thus end the war between the furballers and the tool shed heros.

In the MA every time a decent furball gets going, some hero can't stand it and has to come in and stop it.

The problem with addressing this using maps is it diffuses the people in the arena rather than pitting them against each other in one concentrated area.

In an arena like the MA where you have enough people on, it might work, but not in the smaller arenas

Actually I've spent plenty of time in the CT....

And its guys like you who ARE the problem in the CT....all in all (with a notable exception or two) your squad is the most classless bunch I've ever run into....this Diareaha of the keyboard is par for the course for you guys. you cant even post without a bunch of foul language. Truthfully the CT was a great place till you and the rest of the "wannabe's" showed up. You couldnt gangbang/vulch/landgrab in the MA because you werent good enough so you brought it all to the CT.

I'd love the CT to climb back out of the abyss, currently it gets almost no use (I'd guess 3-5% at best)...

I'd love to see it addressed in some way....I'm actually pro CT...but thats the CT as it was 2 years ago...

A RPS or early war PS might get it fired up again. some type of change like eaglr suggested with no capture/porking might also work....but it sure seems to have gone the wrong way:(

I have no clue what type of resources are required to keep an arena up and running. If we can add more great, otherwise why keep an arena up (as is) that currently appeals to less than 5% of the player base?

Humble.  You are right.  Its not the arena, its the people in it, (with a few exceptions)

I agree Humble, but I havn't played the CT, due to the anemic numbers and issues in finding the actual fight, in a while so I can't speak of it.  I do look at the numbers most nights to see if there is anything going on and I rarely see more than 5 or 10 people in there at any one time.

The other thing that turns me off about the CT is the sense that the community there thinks they are so much better than the rest and their distaste for anyone that flies anywhere else.  I mostly garnered this from the BBs and responses like the one you got above is a good example.

Combine the two and I'd rather put up with the MA.  hahaha.

I would honestly like to see the DA, catered more towards a Fighter Arena with a map that facilitates the furball and still allows dueling to take place on the outskirts, rather than what we have now, which is a map that facilitates dueling and not furballing.

The A1 is fair but not the answer.

Ohhh well I know most of this doesn't matter, I just hope TOD comes out soon so the MA Toolshed Heros have somewhere to go.  I guess I'm an optimist.  hahahaha

my Idea

make a map like  that one with tank town

But only enable early war planes so it can be a early plane town as well as a tank town still

here are the planes i think would be best

P40B
A6M2
109E-4
F4F
HURR-1
SPIT-1
BN5
and that small japan dive bomber

i think some very light dive bombers can be in the early war town  such as the japan torpedo bomber and dive bomber
