Bayonet.. Apparently Turkish..(pics)
« on: November 15, 2004, 03:04:16 PM »
I picked this up for $15.00, I liked the look of it, and was told it was french, looks to be french, and I was told it may of been cut down from a longer length to make a nicely sized dagger.

I've been told now by some others it's turkish, and it sure looks like it..

Roughly 14 1/2 inches long.  From blade tip to hilt tip.

After closer inspection I found this, possibly a star of david and a definit O with a line through it.

Thank Cod, reinacting and saying "Pow! I shot you!" is alot safer than running around and saying "Stab! I bayonetted you!"

Ok, I am all for collecting weapons and stuff and Hawk you have alot of knowledge it seem and you are starting a great collection. My one question about this though is where are you finding people who will sell a 16 year old weapons. I can see the dagger being sold, and I guess if the others were sold under the pretense of being used for exhibit that may change things. I know in NY that even without a pistol permit you can purchase and own black powder pistols because they qualify as exhibit. In the case of you purchasing these things hey no biggie, but what about the 16 year old kid who is a few french fries short of a happy meal that can buy one.

All my transactions are legal.

Someone with an FFL purchases the weapon, then my father or mother purchases the weapon off of the person who purchased it with the FFL.

Then I keep the gun in my room, and use it.

:)

Also, the bayonet/dagger was purchased at a re-enactment from a re-enactor vendor, and he would only sell these things to re-enactors, plus, alot of these guys don't realize how young I am. They think 18-20..
