JABO: use what ya got
« on: August 28, 2000, 11:23:00 PM »
Here's some practice for you folks wanting to get better at your JABO work.  Here's a film of me taking a P47-D30 and taking down 2 V bases (with Aircat bringing a goon to both) a couple nights ago when it was pretty slow.

I think it's a pretty good example of using the bird to its fullest, even if a V base is an easy target.
I had 75% fuel, max gun load, 2 1000lb eggs, 1 500lb egg, and 10 rockets.  I used the .50s to strafe the ack at 38 then looped over and dropped both 1k eggs on the VH to take it down.  At 39 I used the guns on the ack again, and this time used all 10 rockets and a quick switch to the 500lb'er to use all the ord in the second pass, killing the VH there.

Here it is, for what it's worth

Hey Cave, DL'd your film, but couldn't get it to play. I can play films I've taken, but never tried somebody else's that I DL'd. Is there anything I might be doing wrong, like different res. settings or maybe I need to rename the file or something?

I think that double extension happens when you rename a file using FTP or Telnet.  Windows must feel left out of the action when downloading the file and decides to add an extra extension.

Earlier today I took down the ack on A26 using a P38 and rockets.  I remembered to turn the recorder on after the first pass and taking out 2 guns.  So here's the film of taking down the last 7 guns at 26 (and Ripsnort coming in with a goon   )

 P-38 deacking A26

I've also had several people asking me about my sight.  This is the sight I use for most aircraft

And yet another film, again at A26 in a P38
This time there are alot of bandits and a few friendlies around to make it interesting.
Screwed up the first pass by not having rocket selected, but still managed to get 1 gun, dumped the second 1k egg as I reversed for the second run, and finished the ack off with rockets.

Make sure to set A26 to bishop (.sfield 26 1) before you play the film so the ack will be shooting at the right people

Another P38 jabo run on ack
