Ok, brand new system..... Had the usual pain of reinstalling, resetting, etc etc....

Had to turn down acceleration.....(Dxdiag)

Finally got things running..... Frame rates 60 to 80....

Now - the issues:

1. I get a snap sound in the speakers occasionally.

2. Back to micro warps when I key the mic.

Where do I go next?

I believe Skuzzy said the popping, or "snaps" in the sound are caused by a shared IRQ setting, and it would make sense if you are having problems with vox as well. Check your IRQs and make sure none of them are being shared, and make sure there are no conflicts.

Ihave popping in my sound as well , just dealt with it , but I checked my IRQ and have several shared things , guess i need to figure out how to fix this

TY thought it was just normal game play when hittin T to talk

crank sound accel down another notch? also possibly some ah sound setting..

I had the same problem for awhile, running Win98 and with my old motherboard. I upgraded the MOBO (for more reasons than this) and this one gives me the option of reserving IRQs in the BIOS or letting them all be auto-assigned. I set it to manual. I also upgraded to WinXP (something I swore I was not going to do as long as they made drivers for 98). XP seems (somehow) to have more IRQs available to assign that Win98 did. I dont know if 98 was more limited or not in how high it went in assigning IRQ numbers, but XP doesnt have any of them shared whereas 98 had several major components sharing. After the XP upgrade the only time I've had the pops come back is when I reset the BIOS and forget to reset the IRQ assingment to manual.
