Skuzzy, Is this a bug with the latest release?
It shows under my settings as disabled,yet,i get the skin upload message and also on this latest patch,my FR dropped considerably,with no one around,now im getting mid 20's
to single digits in a crowd and with the drop comes freezes.

The skins will always download, regardless of the setting to display them or not.

The way the download is handled should not impact frame rates as it is done at a very low priority.

You can always grab the skin pack and install it if you do not want to wait for the downloads.

than my next question of course is,why have an option to disable
skins then ? before this last patch,i never got the message that a
skin has just uploaded,now,i still have it marked disabled,and i still get the upload message.

this is to prevent performance hits on Frame rates. Think about it, if you have two P51s that you are fighting with different skins, this takes more for your computer to calculate. I am not sure if the task of downloading takes performance hits, but if it does for you, then try downloading the skins from the download webapage and installing the skins beforehand. That might help.

it appears my question still goes un-answered,Why have that option to disable skins when they will still upload even if it as Skuzzy says,low priority?

Be a little patient.

The downloads have always been on. It was just recently we added more new skins. The download does not hurt game play at all.

The reason they download is to allow you the option to enable or disable the ability to see them.

Some may disable the ability to see them in the Main Arena, but enable them in the Combat or Special Events Arenas, as an example.

So it won't make a difference whether i have skins disabled or not,
i (we) still get the text message that a skin has uploaded.
I may have it marked as disabled but ill still get the text message.
I dont wish to see other skins which btw,those folks working on them,outstanding work.but i dont plan to fly along-side an admire
the beautiful rivets,and i dont wish to see a text telling me a new skin has up-loaded so in short,Before this last update,i wasnt getting that text,so why now?

The check box for the skins effects the display of the skin only. The skins are still uploaded to you.

The reason you have not seen any uploads, until the other day, was due to us not releasing any new skins until the other day.

Sounds like when you updated, it reset your video to a different setting. Did you check to make sure your max textures and all your video settings are as you had them before? Even if they say they are, might want to delete the video8.cfg file and then set everything up again, see if that helps. If it does, you found your culprit. Could at least let you know its not the game settings causing your problem.
