A new idea instead of perks
« on: November 29, 2004, 05:11:53 PM »
Every month a pilot picks what country he wants to be, german, american, british ... and each pilot starts with a plane with a high perk point like for american- the P40B, and the british - the hurri 1, and as you get better you move up the line of your planes while getting better, ending with the best perk plane of that country.  I believe this would put more dimention into teh game and it will add a sence of realism to the game.  I also have another way, you start in the crappy planes then you get "Plane Points'" and you can save them up or spend them on certain planes, almost like perks but once you buy it you always have it, ex. the 262 will be worth the most about of points, so will the LA7 and the Pony. :)

So the best pilots get the best planes?

Or:

The players who put in the most hours get the best planes?

No thanks.

What if you can give a rat's arse if you ever fly a "perk" plane (outside of an occasional 262 sortie with the Kerosene Boyz) ?

This is a game.  You honestly want to restrict those who don't play much or aren't that good to crappier planes, while letting those that play a lot and are really good have free roam over the uber planes?

would make more sense to do it the other way around.  As your score goes up, you are more limited in your plane set.  If you top ranked, you gota fly the high eny rides.

Errr...bad idea either way.

i think lute's idea is good however we would still have people complain about it like they do with the ENY.  I don't know about working your way up but perhaps picking your country every tour would be cool, fly with different people.

No, that is not how it worked as a rule.  And even when it did happen you didn't have a squad flying Me262s with another squad flying Bf109E-4s right next to them.  Thank you, but getting stuck in Spitfire Mk Ias or A6M2s every Tour does not sound like a fun experience to me.  Nor is it a good way to attract new customers for HTC.  "Come fly AH where you get a 1940 fighter to act as a target drone for our best pilots who all have free F4U-4s, Spitfire Mk XIVs, Tempset Mk Vs and Me262s!"

As soon as P-51Ds were available they went to squads, not individuals.  The same is true of Spitfire Mk XIVs and Tempests.

I am aware of a squadron of experts the Japanese put together in 1944 flying J2Ms or N1Ks or some advanced Navy fighter.  The Russians also targeted veteran and elite squads for the La-7.

On the other hand I am aware of a Hurri IIc squad in Burma, 1945 that was given Spitfire Mk XIVs.

Well said, the current system is lacking.  I dont think I'll see a Me262 or Ar234 until early spring at this rate

squad perks, if this is right then i gues there could be a system, where you get to weeks in the begining where you have to find a squad, make one etc. during those weeks you get any plane you like but only for those weeks. when in a squad your squad works for planes, if a squad has a certain amount of points it is eligable to use a certain plane, you could make a PersonVS.Squad point system you use a perk plane, if you crash it you have to gain enough squad points in order to pay it off (these would not really count in new planes)  if you do not gain back the points in 2 weeks then your squad loses those points, and can ban or disallow your use of perks  for yet again 2 weeks in wich you can join another squad, or a training ban in wich for 30 to 180 minutes you have to train in the training arena. Or be apprenticed by someone (only on when htey are on take off only from there base)(persons choice)

what do you think???
