Discovery Wings going off the air
« on: December 03, 2004, 01:07:28 PM »
Just saw a promo on Discovery Wings announcing they are going off the air. They will become The Military Channel  on January 10th. :(
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Well damn. On the other hand, they haven't done much that was new in a couple years, the quality and quantity have both dropped considerably. I'm sure it is not a big money maker (no sex, no profanity, and only realistic violence) so I can see why it was hard to get new material. Still really pisses me off.

Yep, saw the bad news yesterday too.  I have a feeling they will show most of the same shows for a while but over time they will be canceled in favor of more military programming.  I've really learned a lot from shows like Learning to Fly.  It's a sad day.

I rarely watch it anyway, I watch a lot of History International, Which for a while now has been promoting the Military Channel on it Every Weekend.

It's a good idea. The Military Channel is a better channel from what I've seen of the previews.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

There just wasn't enough quality programming to sustain a dedicated channel. How many pathetic episodes of Airport could anyone stand. Watching some geek build a kit-plane is about as interesting as watching gardening. Over the past year, virtually everything was repeated two dozen times...

I'm looking forward to the Military Channel, but I hope they have the common sense to show the good stuff made in the 1950s and 60s, and not the half-assed docu-blather that we see on the History Channel so frequently.

My regards,
