I agree.

The only AH2 aircraft that have that type of EM diagrams at the moment are the NIK2 and Spitfire Mk IX, at 10k, 20k, and 30k, and also with flaps. I also have enough data to do the Me109E4, but haven't had time to process it yet.

Unfortunately, work is keeping me real busy lately, so I haven't had time to do more. Next on the list are the Ki84 (which is underway), F6F and F4U. After that some of the ETO rides. Just wish I had more time.

Sounds almost like I should know you? Would I recognise your AW or AH handle?

Combat setting.

You actually get a tighter turn (in terms of the turn radius) with more flaps than just one notch, but the catch is that the sustained turn rate drops also. So the choice of one notch or more depends on the type of fight you are in, single circle or scissors, use them all! Two circle or lufbery type fights just one, or perhaps none, depending on the aircraft is more often optimal.

Actually, I didnt get to fly much with Badboy, and I guess he was pretty much retired by the time I started AWTC.  CR is the one that recruited me, although I received instruction from several of you before that.  While I had seen some of Badboy's "lectures" before, KGann and Snowman were the ones who really turned me on to the turn charts and write-ups he did as useful tools, and showed me how to make the most of them.

On that note, do you have links to the writeups you DO have done for AHII Badboy?  They are a handy reference to have.  I've struggled, first learning the AH1 FM, and then just as I started to get comfortable, the AH2 FM comes along.  I'm starting to get comfortable now and want to start pushing myself to the next level.

Thanks!

SA2

From the P-47 pilots manual - Flight ristrictions

'(2) Make no turns below 130 mph.'

'(3) Do not lower landing gear at speeds in excess of 200 mph.'

'(4) Do not extend wing flaps at speeds in excess of 190 mph.'

There wasnt a 'combat' flap setting for the Jug.

re (2) the Jug tended to fall out of the sky when you did try to turn at that low a speed.

The EM diagrams are good for making general comparisons, but it's difficult to make any specific comparisons due to unknown fuel and weapon loads, engine and aircraft maintainance (probably not much impact in AH) causing non-optimal performance, etc. between two aircraft in combat.  In RL, two aircraft of the same type may vary in weight by hundreds of pounds just from skin patches, upgrades, field mods, etc.  Let's see HT throw that in the mix.  :)
