I'm curious if military recruitment has fallen in the past half year. Can anyone point me to a resource?

No the Marine Corps, we made our recruitment goles for the year in Nov.

The Army has not met its quota. They are trying to hire recruiters to help out. They are trying to change the deployment times to what the Marines use. The stop loss is also hurting them.

Stats have fallen in the last year compared to the previous year, however that is in part due to a huge surge in recruiting signups following 9/11.  Overall recruiting and applications are near recent historical levels (last 10 years or so).  I don't have the article URL handy but this year the USAF academy for example showed a few percent drop in applications from last year, but it's still up from prior to 9/11.

well the way I see it, an election on january 30th will do one of two things:

1) give legitimacy to whatever government is elected and the insurgency becomes isolated and insignificant thereby paving the way for us to GTHO of iraq.

or

2) Whatever government is elected doesn't want us there and asks us to GTHO of iraq.

Keep your eye on the ball -January 30, 2005.  Whatever happens this is the beginning of the end of our involvement in iraq.  Hope for the best, 1000+ americans have died, so far.

Did they actually read their contracts before signing them?  I know I did.  It said I can be held in my contract for the duration of a conflict plus 6 months.  Even somone who has 1 day left in the IRR can be called back for  more than a couple of years or however long the conflict lasts and there isn't squat you can do about it if you sign up.
