Happy Hannuka
« on: December 07, 2004, 08:55:07 AM »
To all those of the Jewish faith and everyone elsefor that matter I would just like to extend a Happy Hannuka.

While not Jewish myself the recent trend shown by some townships, and the population in general to not recognising what the "holiday season" is all about and generalising it so as "not to offend" anyone.
Offends me.

This used to be an inclusive nation where we would include and welcome those of other persuasions into our traditions.
Now we avoid such practices so as to not offend anyone.
And bogus claims and false interperetations of what the "seperation of church and state" is about

This thought disgusts me.

over 90% of this country is of either Christian based or Jewish faith.
This country was founded on these beleifs
  '
We are a Cristian/jewish country witha  very high tolerance and acceptance of other faiths.

I see no legitimate reason. or justification whatsoever
for the sorry course this country has taken recently for the sake of "not offending anyone"
In showing respect for all faiths we disespect our own faiths and traditions.
and I refuse to take part in it.

So.
since this marks the beginning of Hannuka.
I will respect that faith by not saying "happy holidays"
But Happy Hannuka. to everyone

As the Cristmas draws near. I will be wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.

Lets get back to being inclusive.

I celebrate Christmas because it's a time for taking, and drinking. I don't even believe in Jebus.

I'm getting sick of the political correctiness aswell...

I'm tired of the Happy Honda days.. and all that other crap..

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannuka...

There are just as many Muslims in the USA as Jews, and soon to be more if not allready.

Where was your Ramadan greeting?

So America is a Christian country, with minor numbers of other faiths in the low single digits with the largest being Jews and Muslims at around 1% each...  Oh and I think Buddhists are up there too.

Happy whatever to them all.. :)

Hannukah Harry wishes you a Happy Hannukah!  SOB thinks you should get yourself a Christmas tree, put a tacky light-up Santa in your lawn and hang some lights on your house that you won't take down until March of next year! ;)

Fine then happy Ramadan to the *******s too.
OR as a radio show host here calls it "ramadamadingdong"

But Ramadan isnt the reason for the season.

Hanukkah and Christmas is.

Im sure there is some verse in the Koran that can be applied during this time of year.

Funny thing. There is a large Indian population in my town now. So many in fact the town decided several years ago to stop putting up christmas/Hanuka decorations. including things like Christmas trees, decorations that symbolize the manora Even Santa Clause, elves etc etc.
My understanding is so as "not to offend" people who are non Christian or Jewish faith.

Now here is the funny part. Even though their faith is Hindu or Buddhist,  You wont see a single Indian home that doesnt put up Christmas lights or have a Christmas tree Or tell their kids that "Santa" is coming.
And I have found very very few that do not wish me a "Merry Christmas

I've done work for many of these people. And as a matter of curiosity I've made a point of asking them about it.
Without exeption, while they dont share the same faith,
They dont want their kids to feel left out of the celebration and They think the whole idea of how we traditionally celebrate Christmas With the tree, Santa, exchanging tidings of good will, gifts and presents under the tree is simply a wonderful idea.
And these people themselves dont understand why the township stopped putting up the decorations, because they arent offended by them. In fact they embrace this tradition and are making it part of their own.

Yet the township so that they might not offend these people

Christmas season is to celebrate the birth of Jesus, it has nothing to do with either Hanukah or Ramadan except that all three happend to occur towards the end of the year..

Now lets hear those Kwanzaa greetings.

Survey Says??????  BUZZZZZZ big red X for you.

This may be somewhat innacurate cause I'm typing from memory here but to say Christmas is only about the Birth of Jesus is adamently false.

Santa Clause was a tradition started in Germany were Every Dec. 6th Santa would bring gifts for those that left a Boot outside their door.

The Bishops at the time were worried that Santa was becoming more popular so they mixed the two hollidays and did them both on Dec. 25th.

(again that's what I recall from a Disc. Ch show and later confirmed by my German futre Ex-wife)

There are a TON of people that celebrate Christmas that don't beleive in Christ.  But for some reason Everyone's fun gets to get ruined by the Secularist and Christ hating ACLU who think the founding fathers ment to have religion practiced in a dark private place with no windows so no one sees.

There are in fact two distinctive halves to Christmas but Having a sign in public for some reason is offensive.  As if the birth of any baby or a jolly fat guy bringing gifts in of itself is offensive.

This country is becoming so french that A california school has the gall to ban the US constitution and declaration of independence from classrooms because it mentions God.  My question to them would be do they ban money as well?

PS happy hannuka as well :)

oops  Happy Christmahannaquanzika to everyone

We are discussing the origin of the holiday ,not the way it has evolved...

Season is...... sounds pretty present tense to me.

My neighbors don't beleive in Christ yet they celebrate christmas and even say Marry Christmas.  There's more aspects to christmas nowadays than to refferr to it as a 100% religious thing.

AND the origin as we know it TODAY involves Jesus either/and/or Santa!
