Peace, my friends, peace...
Ok, first of all...I never mentioned to provoke anybody. I was too heated and frustrated while wroting the lead of this discussion.
I have to apologize everybody, who feels himself as hurted or insulted...
A big SORRY for You, fellows. And a big Sorry especially for You, Hitech, too.
No hard feelings?
And now, to the point....
The frame rates are telling something about encoding...
My "Messerschmitt" is:
-AMD Athlon 3000+
-Radeon 9800Pro 256Mb
-1024Mb Ram
+the rest of things...no extra processes running etc, etc...
I have tuned that system a lot...and, btw, I use the MSFS(Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004) as an indicator of encoding. As a testbed, there is a big number of freeware add-on sceneries available...
In the MSFS, with the combination of the following; Resolution 1280x1024x32, the worst possible "amateur-encoded-3D-scenery" and the maximum settings of the VGA-card
I will get constantly 35-40 FPS at least...(if u dont believe, I can send You videos captured by FRAPS). That is LOT!!!
In the AH II...which is visually( I mean ground) a really poor and ancient program(compared to MSFS), I get usually 15-25 FPS, temporarely, even, lower than 15 fps....at the ground level. In the skies i get normally 40-60 fps...and thats ok.
Is it really worth of it to encode every possible leaf in the trees? Or...could you optimize the code to reproduce the visual reproduction somehow?
Summa summarum...when I make a conclusion about this and those numerous "weird incidents" at MA (just like today, when my 3xB-24 formation was killed suddenly without a reason. No shooting, no enemies around or any other logical reason to loose them...just a text message"You have been killed"....and I was located in tower.) Maybe, that was a touch of God...
I really wish and hope that HTC is working haaaaaaard to solve this all.
With my honest and best wishes,
Zuum
