2.01p4 skin freeze
« on: December 09, 2004, 03:31:43 AM »
AH2 freezes completely and unrecoverably when I select the spit5 "sparow" skin in the hanger. Freezes also occur when someone else is flying that skin near me. I have tested and confirmed this.

What is the actual name of the skin as it appears in the hangar?

312FS/RAF" skin by Sparow

I think it's called "spit52" in the skins folder.

All details in the link above.

Jodgi, I checked the skin and there is nothing wrong with the format.

I would suggest removing the cached version from your drive.  It is spit52.res and let it download again to see if that fixes it.

Let me know.

I've done that a few times, things still freeze up.

I'm considering re-installing AH2 to see if that helps, this just smells like one of those computer hiccups that noone can explain, and anyone can fix by beating the monitor or whatever;)

...if it hadn't been for that other guy(see link in the first post) having the same problem.

I've had the skin working before, but after the last patches, it went sour.

But it is odd...

Does it freeze also offline ?

Can you try this offline :

Shut down all Norton/Symantec software and check if there is still some freeze.

I could see an anti-virus program causing it.  Did you delete the spit52 folder in the 'cache' folder as well?

AH-HAH!

That did it!

Now I'm able to select the "sparow" skin in the hanger without any freezing.

LOL, so much pain over such a little thing ;)

TY skuzz!
